We are back! For the 2nd annual Cerro Gordo Silver Run. This year was bigger than ever with 230 runners trudging up our 8 mile dirt road to the abandoned mining town of Cerro Gordo. Along the way, they gained almost 5,000 feet in elevation.
A big thanks to our other sponsors HOKA, Pit Viper, La Columbe, and more.

What makes this foot race especially challenging is A) The length of road; 8 miles B) The elevation climb of 5,000 feet and C) The thinning of atmosphere as elevation increases. I think this foot race has massive appeal and will only grow in popularity. I also bought your book Brent. I loved it.

Congrats 🎉 on the win. Your time was amazing. I tried out for track in high school and actually made the team. I was below 5’ and less than 90 lbs at the time and I could really run, the 2nd fastest in my class. But, my multivitamin deficiency got the best of me after a few weeks of training causing my muscles in my legs and sides to cramp up very badly that lasted for days at a time. I didn’t know I had the multivitamin issues at the time. I sometimes wonder how I would have done in the races if I had gotten that under control. Watching y’all compete and you beating your impressive time from last year gave me a glimpse into my past. You and everyone who ran did amazing. I am so excited for next year. I would be there volunteering if I was physically able to make the trip out and handle being on my feet and in the sun that long. I’m just so happy to get to watch this and Brent’s Cerro Gordo adventure on KZbin. Thanks for running 🏃‍♂️ this awesome race. That medal is incredible.

Hey Brent! Good stuff. Maybe you also can also do a "Lumberjack" style fun, local competition event but one the deals in hard rack mining activities instead.

The 2023 winner should get a silver medal made for him as well. I don’t remember him getting something like that(minus the trophy they don’t keep)

I drove that dirt road for 2 months back in December for work. Driving it was no joke, I couldn't imagine running that 8 miles, congrats to those that did!

You definitely should have a 4th of July event have people pay to come Camp up there. Have fireworks food trucks whatever but I would sell tickets to make money. And have people bring a few fireworks to donate. I don't know how hot it is up there on 4th of July LOL but either way you could do this for any holiday weekend or any weekend for that matter

Maybe a drone show, but fireworks no thanks, that's a form of stupidity that's beyond the pale, living in the area for over 50 years fire is not a option but a harsh reality, like careless ignorant people we have to deal with while they are camping.

Respect to Brent. Your dream, your enterprise creates indelible memories, informs, keeps the History alive and from being forgotten. I had a sudden and expected chance to visit at the end of January and really connected with the place. My dad passed away the end of 2023 and had been a miner in his youth. It was the opportunity and memory of a lifetime to scatter his ashes all around Cerro Gordo and leave a donation in memory of Keith. I miss Brent but the hospitality of his staff was amazing. Thanks Brent, for what you made possible. I hope it becomes more of a success than you dreamed possible.

Truly inspiring seeing all the wonderful people pushing themselves through the desert heat up a steep incline. It's amazing to see what humans do. They don't need to run up that hill, but they do it for the challenge. Amazing to see everyone that crossed the finishline. The 80 year old blew my mind, what a tough cookie. So many wonderful humans, putting this on my bucket list.

It’s so cool watching the videos and recognizing places now that I’ve been out there. All of you who attempted it are amazing. The day after my mom and I visited Brent and walked over 3 miles up there, I hiked my big toenail off in Sequoia National Forest. There is no way with my legs (3 knee surgeries, 2 foot surgeries, and more needed) I could do the run up that road, so major props to all the runners.
