Ghoul - Blender Animation Test

I've been teaching myself CGI in Blender for a couple of months and this is my first animation test for a ghoul character that I created. Hoping to use it in a future project.

I need to get way more comfortable in the software first. Any tutorial I did now would be like, "Okay, now you just add a node...okay actually that broke everything...okay where did that window go...time to look up somebody else's tutorial to sort this all out..." But could be fun to try someday down the line!

Cool stuff Danny, makes me wish i stuck with Autodesk all those years ago. I hear blender is less of a pain to use than Autodesk however.

Nice! I've been meaning to learn Blender for a while and I finally got round to starting the Blender Guru's Donut tutorial. I'm quite away off creating animated creatures like this, and even further away from importing them into my workflow (I have Davinci Resolve Studio) so I'm hoping I can use Fusion to bring anything into my scenes in future....

Yeah there's still so much I have to learn too. But I installed Blender for the first time this past fall with zero prior CG experience, started with Blender donuts, and was able to produce this about two months later (although admittedly I treated Blender like it was my job for weeks). Once you get over that initial hump of figuring out the basics of the software and the rudimentary principals of CGI, it starts to get really interesting. You should check out Dikko's tutorials as well. He has some really great videos that were invaluable for my creation of this character.

Is this 100% blender or are you doing comping in another software? I’m prepping for a CGI comp shot later this year!

All Blender although there’s no actual composite here because everything in the shot is fully 3D including the rain. You can definitely composite onto footage in Blender though. I think it’s also common to send your 3D elements to AE for a final comp there.
