PAANCHPOKHARI Sindhupalchok, Nepal - the closest thing to HEAVEN from Kathmandu

#paanchpokhari #nepal We visited the beautiful Paanchpokhari once again, this time of Sindhupalchok during the festival of Janai Purnima. Thanks to our friend Phurpa, we were invited by Paanchpokhari Thangpal Rural Municipality, and its tourism and sports development wing. They have been organizing Paanchpokhari Half-Marathon every year during Janai Purnima and we were there to cover the third edition.
And wow, what an experience! From Shamans clad in vibrant clothes to pilgrims flocking the religious site, from the lush green grasslands full of colorful wild flowers to the breathtaking view of the mountains in the morning, from the friendly locals to one of the tastiest mo:mos we ever had, this was truly an epic experience.
Contrary to popular belief and because of the latest developments, it is now more easier than ever to reach Paanchpokhari.

@@ankitghimire2650 Hi Ankit, it takes around two-three days from Chautara (mostly uphill). Around 6-7 thousand per person would be enough for the trip. You can find the detailed itinerary in the description.

It is disappointing to see such holy religious places turned into sports arena. I understand the need to boost tourism, but I think doing it the right away, by preserving our tradition, nature and promoting pilgrimage would have been better. I fear the inevitable destruction of natural beauty as well as the authenticity of those religious ponds and shrines with the influx of superficial tourists who are there only for sports.

I recently did this trek and returned to Kathmandu last tuesday. Very beautiful place and yet not so popular. It should be promoted as it is so near from Kathmandu! I first went to paanchpokhari in 1999..there were no roads after melamchi..then I fell in love with the place and people..paanchpokhari is my Shangri la..4 trips and this video is inspiring me for my 5th trip
