Amazing - The biggest Lancaster bomber I ever built was on a family holiday to Morcambe - It was a scale of 1/48 I think? (old age) - My Dad took me to the local toy shop and bought me this Lancaster Bomber - The biggest Airfix kit I'd ever owned - And on the way back to our digs - He said "One day lad, You'll be able to tell everyone that you bought, A Lancaster Bomber from Lancasters toy shop, in Lancaster - And here I am telling it again after all those years !

A superb model and some nice piloting. Those low passes are incredible and probably what BBMF pilots would to love to do. I notice you have the original rudders fitted rather than the later Lincoln pattern as fitted to the BBMF Lancaster. Brilliant achievement - fly safe!

Absolutely fantastic effort in every way - this level of build is museum quality and the excellent pilot isn't afraid to "throw it around" some !! The left wingtip was about a foot off the ground on one pass - nerves (and thumbs !) of steel to make those low fast passes with that much on the line !! GREAT WORK - BRAVO !!

hi ieddtech i havent asked mike who owns the lanc why he uses two blades but im guessing its because they are more effecient and cheaper and it saves him buying another four aluminium spinners & back plates which are not cheap,also if he lands wheels up he stands less chance of breaking the third blade off (expensive) and when its flying you cant see them anyway ! regards pete,

This is a wonderful model, fantastic detail and I’d love to see it in real life, however please don’t criticise me too much but I here any reason these and other propeller driven models use two bladed propellers rather than the more accurate three bladed ones on the original full size aeroplanes?
@tbobborap12 жыл бұрын
hi jack, thanks, good question, the reason they are two blades instead of three is that the single cylinder engines do not produce enough power to turn a scale three bladed propellor and therefore would not get off the ground - the two bladed props are perfect for the power produced but these engines !

I wonder where these aircraft are now? (ano 2022) Hopefully they are still flying. Superb take offs. Its the landings that always got me in the end ! We sail ships now, yachts and WWII MTB being the latest edition to our fleet. Be warned, its not always plain sailing either. Sometimes the engines or ESC's melt and burn. Sometimes they crash or simply capsize and glugg glugg. All good fun. 👍

thanks for subscribing to us, the lanc still survives but hasnt flown in several yrs, needs a complete refit of gear,

Brilliant workmanship. Congratulations. Good model. My advise to a young pilot is to try and fly that historic plane with the natural grace of its forefathers that is to scale. I know that dimensional analysis will give a model its own natural speed but as I sit here in the comforts of my home all I can say is that the take off and the landing was not to scale at all, but the result of a oung pilot who probably never saw the bigger version. Still it is a minor observation, but I would suggest that the pilot should try and fly one flight in ten as scale as possible. Old people like me who remember the Grand Plane would appreciate it more. Apart from that full marks in every way.

Nice big model. However after having seen the closeup I remembered a 1985 much smaller model of Chris Golds. THAT was a real scale model. I have seen many modern scale models and many times they are not worthy to be called scale models. It seems like the owner was lazy to make small details ( many times even big details ) which make a great scale model. Man, I really missing old rc days. Giovanniram22 8 hours ago

@Hetzer Gaming, the Lancaster had a wingspan of 102 feet, so 17 feet's 1/6 scale. If you're referring to scaled down crew figures they'd stand about 1 foot (305mm) tall.
