The trailer log arch, log tongs and winch make an efficient way to load the pine logs. It is heartwarming to see how you encourage the kids to be involved in various aspects of your home construction. You are wonderful parents. Ethan is very strong, learning and creative. The center post will support the ridge beam. Happy New Year and blessings to you all.

Sweet! Got the whole fam involved in bringing in the logs, doing all sorts of mechanical (mostly wrenching down big time), lifting and securing cross bracing, and just being danged cute about it all. What a joy to watch! I envied the lad doing his own thing on cutting his logs to size on the saw----oh, to have had those kinds of things when I was a fort building kid. Sigh!

Very nice having everybody help with the base of the BIG post. FYI another way of insuring the vertiticalness of the post would have been to run referance strings from side to side when you had the laser set up, take them down for the post setup and then reinstall them to get the post in 'perfect' plumb.

Will you be adding sheathing to the walls in the Great Room area? I recently saw a short clip of a three-story house in the stick framing phase that collapsed in strong wind gusts, which appeared to be due to no sheathing for added stability. you did it on the two story section. I’m curious if you’ll be incorporating that into your build, or if the noggins for your siding will provide sufficient support. Looking forward to seeing how it all comes together!
