I knew it! Right from the get go. Throttle cut and gear are on the same switch! Bummer, dudes. Nice save. You had throttle when the gear is down. What a beautiful bird! Thank God that tiny mistake didnt cost that plane it's life!! Sometimes, it's better to be lucky than good 👍

Insane - Some people are lucky and some are good. You my friend are both. Believe me we have all made channel mistakes. And with not so good recoveries. Your hard left take off reminded me of my P-40B take offs. Hard left with quick recoveries required. I'm putting in more right rudder and expo to try and correct it. We'll see next flight. Anyway - thanks for the great wido and lesson in always double checking the throws, switch positions and settings before taking off. Best to the families RC/USA

My heart stopped beating when I saw this beautiful plane and Mayday in the title. This was one of the best of your videos 3 years ago as this P40 looks so amazingly scale in the air. It is so floaty because for its size its weight is so low. I’ve bought this in green version after I saw your previous video and I love it. Thanks for bringing it back to the runway for another video although the flight was only half a minute. Maybe we’ll see it again 😊

I am SO relieved you were able to get it back to the field and land it, almost, in one piece! The P-40 is one of my absolute all time favorite aircraft. Being an aviation nerd and avid historian that I am I’m always sensitive to any history around me. I used to fly sailplanes off of Dillingham Airfield on Oahu, Hawaii. Dillingham had P-40’s station on it December 7th, 1941 and managed to get a couple ‘hawks into the air during the attack. The Warhawk wasn’t the best but it was what we had and in the right hands it could be lethal. I love the look, the sound, and the myth of the Warhawk. I own a smaller version of yours and looking at her now hanging on my wall makes me grin like the overgrown nerd that I am. I too almost had a catastrophic mishap with my P-40 on her maiden with of all things the throttle cut switch! I was making last minute preparations, checking that the hatch was secure and all the surfaces were moving correctly, AILEROOONS! When I brushed the throttle stick with my hand while swiveling her to point down the runway! In my flustered panic I forgot the first rule of flying, aviate! Instead I slapped the throttle stick back and tried to steer her. She ended up ground looping and flooping into some roadside bushes, fortunately with no damage aside from my pride and ego. Had I toggled the throttle cut immediately AFTER pairing all would have been well. Needless to say the maiden continued without further incident, after much checking and bad words muttered under my breath. Glad it didn’t go worse! Stay awesome and stay safe! SALUTE!!!

Stuff like this happens. The other day I managed to have my throttle stick and throttle cut switch backwards. Plugged in the battery and was immediately at full throttle. Battery pulled out, it was still in my grasp, but the plane still went about 10 feet before crashing into one of the parked cars. Thankfully no one injured and only a broken prop. That is a beautiful craft. In 1995 my buddy had a 1/5 scale p-40 with a two stroke chainsaw motor in his craft and I had a 1/5 scale at-6 Texan more like a bt-13 with the zenoah g62 in it. Fun times. Unfortunately Jim had a engine failure and try to land downwind and crash and burn. And at that fun fly the zimmermans had a half-scale tiger moth and they dropped out a three-foot-tall paratrooper. And apparently someone passing by our airstrip called 911 and said someone jumped out of their airplane. The funny part was the zimmermans showed the pilot of being a three-foot-tall dummy with brass kids shoes for weight to open the chute and such. It was a interesting day I still have a 1/5 scale supermarine spitfire with the super tiger 3000, nitro.

Good to see you guys still going... even though I haven't watched your videos in a while, it gave me great pleasure watching your videos while I was in hospital for 2 months in 2021-2022… Watching from my iPad... keep up the good work! I love these scale war birds, even though I crashed my FMS P47 razorback on its maiden flight 2 times in a row. That's 2 new planes gone within 10 sec because I had set the exponential stick inputs wrong, and I was more of an intermediate advanced 3d heli pilot.
