Earth (2023)
Discover the astonishing four-billion-year story of the place we call home, told over five dramatic episodes. This revealing biography of Earth explores the planet’s most epic moments. From the first raindrops that turned it into a water world to the arrival of its most incredible inhabitants, us. But humans take a back seat in this narrative. Instead, Earth is placed centre stage. We see what happened to our world before we even crawled from the mud - including massive bombardments from space, extreme changes in climate and the collision of whole continents. The series uses the trademark dramatic storytelling techniques of The Planets to bring this unique story of creation to life.

Are volcanoes always situated directly above subduction zones , i.e. places where one plate - the denser oceanic plate - subducts or ' dives ' under the continental plate and into the magma ? Or can volcanoes be ' born ' , albeit less frequently , at locations on the continental plates that are far away from these subduction zones ? There are underwater volcanoes that are born under the sea , on the ocean's floor - I suppose that this would be an example of such a volcano , one that is formed far from a subduction zone .

Yes, you can get volcanoes in 'hotspots' - where the earth's crust is slightly less deep, and so hot lava can push it's way to the surface. As the plates move around it, it can create a conveyor of volanic islands in a line, or cluster - like Hawaii, Galapagos or Moluccas

Huuuuuuuuu, no? The mechanisms inside earth that are behind plate tectonic have nothing to do with any collisions earth endured I would think and were actives basically forever and are still gonna be there for a very long time, where is this idea even coming from? Any researches or papers about it to link to us that would support this claim bbc?

@bryguysays2948 , ok all because we can't test, repeat, or see, it doesn't mean it never happened. For example, evolution isn't something you can see but we see proof of it in fossils, anatomy, DNA, etc.
