So different but so beautiful. Do you use landscape fabric under the mulch? I find that betony, dollar weed, and bermuda grass rhizomes still make a thick mat under any barrier I put down. I’d love to know how to fix that problem.
@TrueGardenerАй бұрын
Oh I wish I had a good answer for you however those are two stubborn weeds. For the dollar weed I use whatever waterweed killer I can find and treat it heavily. Since it spreads so quickly,The more aggressive you can be the better. I do not use weed barrier under the mulch, I spray my beds every 15 days for the first 3 months and that get rid of whatever seeds got stirred up during the landscaping. I handle the round up carefully and turn the nozzle to a single stream instead of a wide spray and just treat the new weeds coming in. It’s much easier doing it in the beginning before they have time to really root in and take over. Best of luck I know how frustrating these weeds can be.

True Gardener, Jennifer, Another MASTERPIECE !!! What a beautiful landscape plan you have created here. I would love for you to do a video on DIY waterfall/pond, I am going to put in a small scale water feature soon and would appreciate your tips to help avoid some of the pitfalls in such a project. Also would like a video on planting large "estate" size pots for my deck, in a tropical theme. As always, look forward to your sharing your expertise with us all. Wish you and your family a Blessed Christmas !

May I ask how far apart do you plant the Pygmy palm from the culsia?
@TrueGardenerАй бұрын
That’s a great question. In this particular case we planted them with a cleared 2.5-3ft opening. However, if you plan to keep the Colusa under 4 feet tall, you can put them right next to each other because the Pygmy will eventually grow to 12 foot tall, leaving the Clusia to cover the base and grow right alongside it. I hope that makes sense 🙂

Just a heads up, "Alfriddi Cold Cononut" as it appears in the video title should be "Beccariophoenix Alfredii" (High Plateau Coconut). Awesome new palm that has not been in the palm trade for all that long.

I have been using your soil recipe when planting my palms and was wondering what additional nutrients you are using that you mentioned in this video. Thanks from south Tampa

Hi Jennifer, LOVE your videos - question for you. I know you love the variegated foliage and am curious why you do not use variegated shell ginger (from what I have seen)? I am in love with this plant and am going to want some in my new construction home garden when I get there in March!! Esplanade at Azario, Bradenton FL...so excited!! Also would love to hear your thoughts on caladiums in the ground....

Hard to keep shell ginger from looking ratty. I am in Englewood East
@TrueGardenerАй бұрын
Oh I agree they are beautiful I do like to use them in clusters as a back drop. Mainly when I have a bit of shade to work with,They burn so easy so I have to make sure they have a bit of canopy coverage.
@rfpq8894Ай бұрын
@@TrueGardener I will make sure to save some room in the shaded areas for them! Thank you🥰
