I'm loving these perch videos (yes I'm binge watching your channel 😂) I'm going to sportsmans and buying that rod tomorrow. We get red tailed perch here in Humboldt and they are comparable in size. I did get a nice 14" one on a drop shot with a bluegill flash kitech then lost 4 more on the calissa to a sea lion. Just need to get out more to get more info for my book to develop a pattern.

Hook2Cook So, the lures were delivered to an address about a mile away from my home yesterday. I looked up the address and took a drive over and knocked on the door of the sketchiest looking home for miles around. Trash and decrepit vehicles parked all over what should have been their front yard. The person who answered the door was surprisingly well dressed and polite. I explained to him why I was there and he excused himself and closed the door. I could hear hushed voices behind the closed door and a short while afterward the door opened. The guy handed me the three lures and said “Sorry, I opened the package” I answered “No problem” then took my lures from his hand and left. No doubt he would have just kept them had I not driven over to retrieve them.

Ron Cook thanks! Yea the angle was just right! It only took years of adjustment to get it right haha. The guys in the video in the suv painted their lures with glow paint and said it works. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Uh, you know who I am.. so I get to say this. If you fish the back sides of the sand bars, the ocean side.. you get ones that big 1 in 20 fish. But you have to use a wetsuit.. it's dangerous, you should wear a PFD. And don't be afraid of submersion as the waves can break over you. Use a shifty 15 dollar Walmart reel as the reels are always submerged.

David Feng Monterey has some really good spots. Marina beach north is a place we’ve hit and a lot of people speak highly of Moss Landing. Guessing it was Ish With Fish who recommended us.

No haven’t used it much at all because of other reels getting more play time… they’re good for a while then they will seize up, but for $30 there’s nothing we’ve seen better. It’ll get quite a few trips in before they quit. It’ll make a good spare or share when taking a buddy out.

That first 16” perch was definitely a female. Check the anal fins. That’s an easy way to tell. If it’s a solid fin, it’s a female, if it’s a split fin, it’s a male.
