Giant bridge that joins Croatia together opens at last

For people in the southern tip of Croatia - their car journeys may just be a little bit easier this morning. A new road bridge - costing more than half-a-billion dollars - has officially opened. It bypasses a strip of land that belongs to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The BBC's Tim Allman has the story.

Slovenian say they are central Europe, while Balkan is poor and further south. Croats say they are Catholic and Balkan belongs to Orthodox and Islam infidels. Serbs say Balkan is in the mountains in the south. But you go too south then Balkan move to the north because Greek shall claim that they are the cradle of European Civilization and everyone else is primitive savage. Almost all Bosnian noblemen were catholic from Crotian houses and even a lot of their insignias have checkered flags. Bosnian Church descended from Croatian Catholic which is only Church that had the right to use local language, not latin. Modern Croatia has bigger claim to history of Kindom of Bosnia than modern BiH. Also in Bih today religion=nationality. Sad but true and you are probably better of anywhere else.

This bridge is a political construction a highway through Neum would have been cheaper, the Bosnians didn't even need Neum its a little city which cant have a deep sea port and is inhabited by 90% Croatians.

It would have been cheaper but it’s not a Croatian territory? Neum is a costal city and part of Bosnia and Hercegovina federation. As such, Croatia has no legal rights to impose any sort of construction which would go through another country all of its own. Maybe if there were agreements between the two counties it could have been done. While I do agree that the bridge is a political pawn to play in next elections it is overall something that was needed to be built for completion of Schengen area checklist.

NATO screwed over Herzegovina Croatians by handing their land to a Saudi supported Muslim Bosnia after they were the ones that actually fought hardest to ensure Croatian independence. Nice that Croatia feels united by this bridge. Hope the hypocrits now finally start putting some effort in getting Herzegovina where it belongs, a part of Croatia.
