Giant Bull Moose With Killer Royal Tines
Welcome to another new video from team MooseMan. Today’s feature is about a relatively new bull we call Royal. His name really fits him with those long dagger like Royal tines.
We’ve got a lot of video of this bull to share this year, and some of it is so wonderful. We have this new thing with watching the bulls walk thru cow parsnip, it sends the seeds flying all over the place like glitter. It’s wicked fun!
Royal is a big moose. This is a good time to discuss the way areas sustain some big moose, they live their lives, and then there is a void for a bit.
We’ve been keeping our eye on a couple different areas. We think it’s interesting to study and keep notes on the big guys. One might assume there is always a giant moose in an area that had a giant moose a couple years ago. That is not always true. Sure, there is always a young up coming bull in the making, but it might take a few years for him to get there. My point here is in the area where Royal lives, there used to be a couple big dominant bulls that “ran the show” for years. They died after living full lives and Royal and Scoop are two bulls who may fill the void. It’s all very interesting and it’s important to be aware there’s often exceptions in an area, oddities, and questions. It’s all part of studying an area, you need to keep an open mind and we like to consult with one of our friends who really has a pulse on the area. His knowledge has been wonderful
Thanks for watching our channel, we are the husband/wife team of Rick and Libby Libbey, (Libby squared), New Hampshire wildlife photographers (and part time Alaska.) It is our passion to document wildlife of any kind, but moose are definitely at the top. In New Hampshire we spend a lot of our spring/summer hours in kayaks photographing loons and moose in the waters of New Hampshire. And hike many miles in Alaska seeking all manner of wildlife in the fall.
