I love the juxtaposition between you and coyote Peterson's reactions to bites and stings. What I mean is that he hams it up for the camera with his insane reactions while you are far more realistic and knowledgeable about the species you work with. Keep up the good work!

Venom and bites aren't easy to "debunk". It's always a matter of the animal, the amount of venom injected, how a body reacts to the venom and how much of a pain tolerance a person has. Also it wasn't the same species in this case. It's Scolopendra heros vs. Scolopendra alternans. Not saying he doesn't ham it up, but there just are many variables to consider. Some guys are considerably more of a crybaby than others lol
@Copperhead47
@Copperhead47 2 жыл бұрын
@@rebel4466 he does it with every single bite or sting. So nobody( well, maybe an idiot) believes him with any of the bites or stings anymore. I guess he just thinks everyone is dumb.

This guy's pain tolerance is on another level. I have seen people get bit by a bunch of the insects shown on both shows. Their reactions were all way worse than Coyote, who himself has a strong pain tolerance. I saw a bullet ant reduce a man to a sobbing wreck. A few years back, he shattered his foot when an I-beam was dropped on it and WALKED 4 blocks to the hospital. I walked with him. He didn't even wince. Another guy I knew was a marine with multiple tours who got bit by a gila monster in southern AZ. He had been shot before and he said the gila was "About three F***loads worse. The adrenaline helps a ton with pain from a bullet. It didn't do s*** for that ******* lizard."

Check out Danny Berk who does the whole ritual of the glove filled with 100s of bullet ants, on both hands, and keeps it on for like, 30 minutes. Also, he's really annoying, but that's besides the point. Even the tribe was very impressed. Kind of a psycho....

I agree, it's important information. Especially when he does it with a species that does relatively come in close contact with Humans, like his black widow bite. Him updating to show how badly it screwed him up (which kinda changed the tone of his video) it gave us an important warning that the bite can be absolutely devastatingly painful even to someone like jack.

The centipede he was bitten by was a different species and was around twice the size of this one so it injected more venom, it has different venom components, and everybody reacts different to venom. We wouldn't know if he overreacted because we've never been bitten by that specific centipede. Let alone have enough footage of other people being bitten by the giant desert centipede to see if they had a similar reaction

Have you watched any of Bugs and Biology's videos? Ok, he's Australian and their centipedes are a little different to the American species but not a lot: Large? Check. Strong venom? Check. Skittish? Check. One or two specimens have a serious attitude problem? Check. Anyway, the point is that he's been bitten so many times by his own collection that he's become allergic to centipede venom. It seems that even with acquired sensitivity the venom isn't life threatening but I'm assuming there's a lot more swelling and side effects, hence he's no longer free handling.

She has swung/lunged at my hand twice very very near misses. She pauses whatever she is doing the split second she becomes aware or senses my hand in her enclosure even if I am away from end she occupating! I have given up all hope of handling her ever which suits her obviously anyhows but I have an irrational fear now of any large centipede ! Great video my man! Respect too !

So this happened 32 years ago now, there was this kid in my class in the 3rd grade Iv forgotten his name now but we were on the playground and there was a huge tree there were these caterpillars or silk worm type things were and there was a ton of them. This kid in my class gathered a Pyle of them and was beating them with a stick. I'll never forget how they were flying all over the place all crushed and mangled up. I got super upset and attacked him with all I had at 9 years old. When our teacher pulled me off of him he was looking like some of the caterpillars he had just murdered. That teacher hated my guts that is a fact but that day he was the only one in trouble after the other kids told her what happened. My only good memory of her.

Jack's pain tolerance is higher than Coyote Peterson's : that was the only eye wateringly ( surpressed cry ) painful bite that I've seen Jack take. He needs to move into jellyfish and stone fish envenomations before we get some pain over-load reactions from him. Alternatively he could go for swarm envenomations to access the First Law of toxicity: The toxicity is primarly in the dose, not the substance. Coyote said the worse stinging he got was arguably the 30 simultanious stings from a small swarm of standard paper wasps; where each sting was only around x3 as bad as a nettle sting, but the sum was far worse.

That third final bite was deep., with a very deliberate envenomation. I would say that certainly indicative of the behaviour of a centipede that fighting for its life. The first bite was a “let me go mate just put me back down”. The next bite was “I mean it” But the way centipede grabbed him and levered its fangs in there on a last bite was really a desperate act of aggression.

I think jacks laid back, facts based approach to these bites and stings are more watchable then coyotes over the top screaming and melodramatics

You definitely have a high pain tolerance. Some of the stuff you have taken stings from would at the very least unnerve most of us. I know I would not be able to keep my composure and think clearly enough to talk coherently after being lit up by these larger venomous creatures. Props!

May I also enquire if you would allow one of the largest species in the world such as one of the rainforest dwelling centipedes to bite?
