As long as you have a Deer or Elk tag during 1st-4th rifle seasons you can get an over the counter with caps bear tag. Colorado does not have Grizzly Bears but they do have MONSTER Black Bears. I’ve taken 2 Colorado Black Bears that measured 7’1” & 7’4” square post taxidermy (had rugs made out of both). Skulls both measured 20 & 5/8”....always have Bear tag in your pocket when you hunt the Colorado back country.

There haven’t been any grizzlies in CO for a few decades now, I think the last one was killed in the 70s. Some have supposedly been reported briefly coming across state lines from neighboring states with grizzlies though.

Your message of faith is not only refreshing, but it lends itself to a much deeper appreciation for what you have to share. God has a way of reminding us, many times through others, of His sovereignty and the necessity for our affirmation of His existence in our lives. We have but to look around to see the marvelous work of His hands, in everything and everywhere. John 1:1-3

Great bull harvested!! Congrats. You need to look at the Colorado hunting regulations as you cannot pack out the antlers/head until all meat has been removed and packed out first.
@scubadown16
@scubadown16 2 жыл бұрын
That is not true... You do have to take all 4 quarters backstraps and the T loins but there's nothing in the book that say you have to take the meat before the antlers... Born and raised here I also help the CPW and have read the book every year. So please reply with what page you are reading where it says you have to take the meat before the head and antlers... Thanks.

@@scubadown16 I was fined by wildlife officer (heavily) and you are correct on 4 Quarters, backstraps and tenderloin. Go to page 16 right side #4 under evidence of sex . It says all portions of meat transported together. Next is carcass tag. - 2nd paragraph, "other place of storage etc." I carried antlers and both backstraps and my hunting buddy carried quarters. When at the vehicle the wildlife officer asked why we carried the antlers and not the rest of meat. 1st violation was not having all the meat together. He stated "Meat spoils and antlers do not". 2nd violation was going back in to get rest of meat and coming out with out the tag attached to the other quarters. Remember tag was on 1st load taken out. The tenderloins had been in last game bag carried out and under a quarter. The tenderloins had spoiled and the bottom of quarter as well (wasting game meat). He then stated that if we had brought out meat first instead of antlers the meat would not have spoiled and meat would have been together. He handed me two tickets with one for not having tag on 2nd trip of meat and the other ticket was not having meat together and for wasting game meat. His last statement - if you had worried about carrying all meat in first load instead of antlers, no tickets would be issued. Bottom line Antlers come out last.
@scubadown16
@scubadown16 2 жыл бұрын
@@walterbaker5114 Yes I have read the page your pointing out thoroughly. It still doesn't say you must take the meat out first. You must attach your carcass tag to the quarter that has the evidence of sex still attached to that quarter... NOT ON THE ANTLERS and not in the bag of meat where there's no evidence of sex... I believe the big issue in your case was the wasting of meat... One person can not carry entire elk out of the woods together especially solo and even in teams of 2 its nearly impossible to bring an entire elk out in one trip where you are keeping the meat together. I work with many CPW officers and this is the first I have read where an officer sited someone for not keeping the meat together. Be it what it is. I am sorry you were given a ticket and that your meat spoiled. I would be interested in hearing more about it.. How far it was from the truck or trailhead. Season and how hot it was things like this. Thanks for your reply

@@scubadown16 The regulation brochure was quoted to us and the outcome was severe. We were 3 miles as the crow flies and with the canyons and ravines about a 5 mile hike. This was muzzleloader and we harvested about an hour after sunup. Morning low was near freezing with highs for the day around 70. It took a few hours to process and hang the meat. We got the last loads back around dark. We were at the wrong place and the wildlife officer was at the right place to check tags, etc. I will give you another example of a hunting buddy who carried out antlers first and the wildlife officer wanted to give him a ticket for illegal possession of a game animal and hunting with out a license. The carcass tag was on the meat at the kill site. He finally found his license and not the carcass tag and the wildlife officer finally released him after quoting him the violations from brochure that he could have been cited for. They told him to carry meat first and the last load is antlers if desired to bring out of the forest. The wildlife officers can use any rule in the brochure for citations and it is all a matter of interpretation. I WILL NEVER CARRY ANTLERS FIRST from my experiences. You may have an in with the wildlife officers and that is a blessing to you and not me. Don't take it wrong as I have also had help from wildlife officers many times in different hunting units.

Love your faith and the fact I can watch these with my kids and not worry about cussing or anything like that. One question I have is why don't you all use slings with your weapons? It seem like it would be way way safer and easier for y'all. At the 14:56 mark the weapon is pointed right at the camera man and plenty of other times muzzle discipline is not good at all. I've now stopped your videos a couple times and asked my kids as a way of training, what is wrong with this picture? Or what are they doing that you should never do? With all the great things you guys do, and the message you preach, maybe just think about hunter safety stuff a little more and maybe address it at some point. Thanks so much and not trying to be a jerk, or a know it all.
