Yes, this is such a great haul! Steph as Batgirl is my fave too. Not sure I'll ever forgive DC for benching her again and not having her pick up the mantel =/ I still haven't read Cassandra Cain's run as Batgirl, but she seems awesome. Those old school Batman comics look great and I need to check out the Sabrina comic too! Looove Spider-Gwen! I had no idea that they were re-releasing Fruits Basket into big books. Hoo boy, I need to snatch those up. I used to do a monthly pull a few years back and I had to cancel it. Single issues were just taking up so much stinking room. I vowed that I would just buy digital copies from then on in trades. Love my comics, but going digital saved my shelves, lol! Looking forward to more manga and comic hauls and reviews!
@MerrilyKristin8 жыл бұрын
I totally agree! I've stopped buying single issues too unless it's something with a REALLY special variant cover but even then it's rare for me. I'm so happy that Steph is your favorite too! I get so mad at DC for getting rid of her so quick too :-/ I just read the first Cassandra Cain trade and my second one came in yesterday! She's definitely interesting but you don't get to know *too* much about her in book one. And yessss Spider-Gwen

Awesome haul, I've recently been getting into the Batman 66 comics, I picked up vol 2 not to long ago after really enjoying Batman 66 Meets the Green Hornet and the first volume. One of these days I need to pick up the complete tv series on bluray :)

I've been buying Peach Girl this year as well, and am missing the final volume of the third series "Sae's Story"! So frustrating not having good 2nd hand bookstores here in Canada... I'm almost tempted to take a road trip through the U.S. just to visit some book stores. I've been to bookoff before (in Japan) and it was one of the greatest days of my life...haha. I feel like you would enjoy "Castle Waiting" by Linda Medley. It's a take on traditional fairy tales with really fun and quirky characters. For Shoujo, you should see if you can locate "From Far Away" by Kyoko Aikawa. It's a pretty story of a Japanese girl who is transported to a fantasy world and has a romantic adventure. It's a bit older so hard to find in print, but I think is available on OverDrive (if your library will buy it).

OMG I cannot even imagine what Book Off in Japan must have been like! Talk about a dream come true! I'm having trouble tracking down some of the Peach Girl volumes too- I really hope it'll be re-released soon in a more cohesive format. And thank you for the recommendations!! They both sound right up my alley!

OMG I've been wanting to get those Fruits Basket editions! Cardcaptor Sakura is magical girl and is AMAZING! The anime is SOO good as well. Blackbird is awesome! And Ouran Highschool Host Club is good. Tokyo Mew Mew is another magical girl manga/anime that's good. You already know about Sailor Moon, which I prefer the anime to the manga for but, yeah.
@MerrilyKristin8 жыл бұрын
Yes! I read the first omnibus of Cardcaptor and I picked up the complete anime blu-ray box set at Baltimore Comic Con! I'm so excited to binge that whole series
@sakurahan918 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I recommend the 90's dub of Cardcaptor Sakura - Cardcaptors. It's so cute! I don't really like watching in Japanese so CCS is the only series I've watched in Japanese because it was my first anime. Otherwise I just stick to the dubs. I don't love Ouran. It's good but certainly not my favourite. And I wish Blackbird was an anime! Only the first season of Tokyo Mew Mew was dubbed but it's still awesome. Quite similar to Sailor Moon in fact! Those Fruits Basket manga collections are £11 or over each :(.

Oh my gosh. Where do you buy all of these?!
@ecr.76958 жыл бұрын
That was a great haul! I had heard of a lot of the shoujo manga series you had bought. Also, someone made some great recommendations, too. Does your blog have a list of your manga so that if people stopped by, they can read the manga series that you had bought/read and can give recommendations w/o overlapping with the manga that you had read before? Same with the comics.
@ecr.76958 жыл бұрын
One recommendation: Yamato Nadeshiko Shichihenge by Tomoko Hayakawa.

Another is Gakuen Alice by Tachibana Higuchi.

I've lately really been wanting to get into comics after watching Gotham but I just have no idea where to start. The world of comics is so large and confusing and if I feel like if I pick vol. 1 of something its only just something in the middle of a huge timeline and I have no idea where to reach first. For example I've been trying to find some Nightwing comics but I just don't which is "first" as in which is first to start thats the beginning of a timeline or isn't as confusing
@inesceia7 жыл бұрын
For Nightwing I'd recommend starting with Nightwing Vol 1: Bludhaven by Chuck Dixon. I may be wrong but I think it's the first solo series with Dick Grayson as Nightwing. All you need to know is that Nightwing is Dick Grayson, the first Robin and he quit being Robin. This series started in 1996 and ended in 2009 but not everything is collected in trades (aka volumes) but most of the good stuff in the beginning written by Chuck Dixon is! If you want something more recent you could also start with Nightwing Vol 1 in the New 52 (I think it's called Traps and Trapezes?) that started in 2011 and ended with Volume 5 with a big chance in Dick's life and then continued in Grayson Vol 1 through Vol 5. Recently DC revamped every series starting with #1 for their Rebirth initiative and Nightwing got a series that starts with Vol 1: Better Than Batman. I understand where you're coming from since that's where I was a couple years ago! I can't tell you it's easy to understand everything surrounding comics at the beginning but if you stick with it, you'll start to know what you're into and what you like and dislike and it gets easier from there. www.comicbookherald.com/ is where I usually go to understand a character's timeline and where to start. (Note that you don't have to start from the very beginning with 99% of the characters and you probably shouldn't!) For specific characters, watch some youtube videos or read some articles on reccommendations. Also if you need anything else, I'd be willing to try to help you the best you can!

I really really want to start reading comics but I have no idea where to start. I'm the hugest fan of Marvel and DC
@MerrilyKristin8 жыл бұрын
Starting can be intimidating when there's so much history. For Marvel, I would recommend starting with their Marvel NOW story lines (it started a couple of years ago and you can get the first volumes in trade) for any hero that you're interested. It's a great starting off point! Otherwise, if there's a particular superhero that you want to read about, I may be able to tell you some titles to read!
