Giant Cupcake Masterclass How-To | Cupcake Jemma

Get your notebooks out! This is going to be an in-depth masterclass on how to bake and decorate the perfect Giant Cupcake. Don’t be afraid. He may be big but he is not the boss of you! With these hints and tips you are going to be churning out delicious, pristine Giant Cupcakes LIKE A BOSS!
You will need -
a Giant Cupcake tin, greased and floured
an 8inch cake board or drum
a straight palette knife (8”)
a cranked palette knife (4.5”)
a cake turntable
some greaseproof paper
small piping bags
various nozzles for trims
Recipe! -
For the cake
375g self-raising flour
375g unsalted butter (soft)
375g caster sugar
¾ tsp bicarbonate of soda
6 large free-range eggs
4.5 tbsp whole milk
½ tsp vanillia extract
For the buttercream -
300g unsalted butter (soft)
675g icing sugar, sifted
4 tbsp whole milk
½ tsp vanilla extract
Plus sprinkles and food colouring to decorate!

This is the BEST! im doing a giant cupcake for my little ones cake smash and all the tutorials show a candy/chocolate base(not really suitable for a 1 year old to smash up) so this buttercream base is awesome and looks great!

Just tried the technique for icing the bottom portion of the cupcake and it worked like a charm but my dumb self used canned frosting instead of the buttercream I made because I tinted the homemade butter cream one color and wanted to use a different color lol. Will use that technique again as most tutorials involve the chocolate mold so this is great!

Absolutely amazing tutorial. I did have one question though about the removal of the top and bottom once cooled from the oven. Please could you explain in more detail. I once made it greased like you showed but once I removed from the pans didn’t end up being ok, I usually use grease proof paper. Thanks 😀❤️

@Tamar. If you don't have a giant cupcake tin. Use a Pyrex measuring cup for bottom and a round Pyrex mixing bowl for top ( I say Pyrex because they are heat resistant and work great for me. You will need to decorate the top with rossettes and that is just an idea :)
