Hey Isaac! So, Sam's Club has this 8ft tall scarecrow that is currently all sold out. I am thinking about recreating it using your tutorials, and just adapting them to make a scarecrow. Wish me luck! I think the hardest part will be the lighting. Not sure if I will be able to do the glowing eyes or not. Planning on thrifting all the clothes, and just patching together the overalls from multiple pairs of thrifted jeans.

I'm watching your videos back to back and I'm doing a deer skull monster on a tree I have in my yard. This is perfect to help give me ideas on building it. I had so many fallen branches from a storm in NY here so to save $$ I'm going to use actual branches, glue and drill pieces together. It'll be a heavy piece but excited to try it out. Thank you for all these amazing ideas you're awesome!!

Wondering if something like Great Stuff or a spray foam of some sort would adhere to the pvc pipe instead of using papier-mache. Definitely looking at doing this for this year's decorations, but needs to be really weatherproof to last 5 weeks out in the yard. Thinking of drilling a hole at the base and running a cord up through the trunk to a C7/C9 bulb in the foam pumpkin.

Oh gosh 😫. This has been so frustrating. For some people, the links will work but for other people they don’t see a pop-up. For example, my sister said she can’t see the pop-ups but my best friend can see it from his phone.

Isaac. If you fill the PVC with salt/sand you can heat it up with a heat gun and freely bend and distort it for more natural-looking curves. The sand can be removed after you have shaped the pipe. The sand keeps the pipe from collapsing.

I made something similar to this but instead of using Paper towel I used strips of burlap I then painted it down with clear lock Mixed with exterior paint. Mine are about 4 years old. And look wonderful outside. The areas where I place them I put another container down into the ground which I change out seasonal by seasonal with plants or a Christmas tree. But all I have to do is drop these guys in and they look great. I love the idea of using the foam in the bottom. So I'm going to take out my moss mixture and try that this year. Great video.

I love the concept and I think that you have achieved a nice finish. To me the main stalk seems a little thin, and I feel that the shoulder pipes should be less wide with maybe 45 instead of 90 degrees. It just looks a little square to me. This is just my opinion on the design - I do like the overall effect.
@IsaacAlexanderDIY2 жыл бұрын
I actually have to agree with you. In hindsight, I should have softened the shoulders by using a heat gun to change the shape or using a different angle. Lastly, I agree with you on the thickness of the stem. I should’ve continued to have made the trunk a little bit thicker at the beginning. I have never made anything like this before so it was definitely a lot trial and error. But I appreciate the feedback. I’ll know what to do differently for my next one

Very cool I like the hands, just wondering about it being outdoors in the rain for a month?! With that glue …
@IsaacAlexanderDIY2 жыл бұрын
It’s wood glue so it’s consistency is different than an indoor glue. It should be fine in the rain
@Jeff_M_19696 ай бұрын
I have to say, I don’t really do “mache” any longer…moved on to plastic corpsing long ago, but I will try this with the wood glue and shop towels on one of this years projects. “Skinning” I believe it’s called. I’m interested to see how far I can take this. Glad I watched. Have a great season Isaac! 🎃

@IsaacAlexanderDIY2 жыл бұрын
The items that I make are meant for the outdoors. My props always last me a long time. Also, I have never had anything stolen, but crime can happen at any time and any place. Just because nothing has ever been stolen doesnt mean that it couldn’t happen.

@@IsaacAlexanderDIY so is it waterproof like this? I think you said you're putting it indoors. Is there a way to adapt it to be waterproof if its not? I plan to put it in the porch but just in case. This is so awesome thank you
@IsaacAlexanderDIY2 жыл бұрын
@@aedansilva1114 as stated in the previous comment, these items are created for the outdoor use, but it isn’t waterproof, it is weatherproof. It will withstand rain and sun but obviously cannot be submerged in water or be maintained in a wet environment for days on end. Making this pumpkin tree exactly how I detailed will work on your porch or patio just fine. We are using wood glue, PVC, and exterior paint, it’ll be fine outside
