I believe everyone becomes a little self conscious in large groups because so many people are talking at once. You don’t want to talk over someone or cut them off before they complete their thought. Everyone from different places carry slightly dialects, cadence styles and accents so it can become overwhelming to even the best of orators. I usually will find someplace else to be if I am forced to decipher “ghetto” or “mall speak.” Maybe it’s because my sister watched Clueless, and Save The Last Dance movies too often. Kelly started my hiker KZbin rabbit hole in 2020! When she had to get off the AT at the beginning of her journey in 2021 I was itching to more so I did a search and found you doing yours. It's so nice to hear somebody say that they don't like big groups or small talk. ❤️ It's like a "thing" that you're cool when you like to hang out and have lots of friends and when you're loud etc. But being by yourself or just with a handful of people you like and trust is just as "cool". I'm an introvert, I like the calm and quiet and I always feel like we're supposed to try to fit into that other group. So it's really nice to know that there're other people like me out there. ❤️ Thanks for your daily vlogs. I really enjoy them. I think the length, content etc is just perfect 🙂👍🏻

I’m so happy for you that you unlocked eating breakfast as an energy boost! I too was ‘not a breakfast person’ forever and it wasn’t until I was almost 30 that I finally started eating real breakfast and it changed my life. In fact at this point years later breakfast is usually one of my bigger meals and I’ve had even more energy with that even as I get older! Really excited for you, keep crushing it and having fun!

It's a fairly exclusive club (not in the snobby sense) just because not many people have as much experience as all of you do on the AT. Hi Tayler- I used to not liking being in big groups and meeting new people until one of my close friends told me his trick which is to just ask people questions about themselves - that everyone likes talking about themselves so when I am in a situation where I am with a lot of people I don’t know I just ask people about themselves- also takes pressure off of me making conversations

The keyword is "AT Community." It seems that this is something that doesn't exist on the PCT or other trails. Yes, there are hiker bubbles and trail towns, but this sense of reunion isn't quite as integral -- perhaps because more of the AT is more accessible than the PCT even for those not actively hiking the trail. Thank you for sharing this. It was very cool, and it was the biggest smile you've had on trail so far! Be safe; keep at it!
