This band has deep meaning to me understanding that allows YOU to feel my pain through these songs. I played 2 songs at his funeral We had a stupid fight about a dive that was an extra day and the sitter couldn't stay, STUPID I'm was so mad, I'm fucking stupid before they could reach me he was already gone his last words to his brother was "Find Kelly and my daughter pls bring them here don't let me go before then" “tell her she was right” he told him just how much he loved me, that he didn't have to tell me that I KNEW because I loved him just as much I played "I'll see you in my dreams" & "Can't let go" so I ask you to PLEASE think of Ed & Kelly when my love died I was so young, I'm 55 now I never recovered, remarried or ever found that soul mate connection I had with Edward God I LOVED him, we were both soldiers. Now I live alone & forgotten in my memories, which are being stolen because of a TBI I received during my service. I hope you find that type of love NEVER settle its real that type of deep love IS REAL I know PLEASE hold on to the ones you love I hope you were able to understand & feel why music was so vital so important to my generation it was the only voice we had

Giant and Steelheart were two bands that *should* have gone on to push most of the other hair metal bands off the charts. Instead, Grunge showed up and Billboard free radio stations decided Grunge was the "New Girl in High School" and killed hair metal with the Nirvana and Pearl Jam silver bullets.
@Lordhumongus
@Lordhumongus Жыл бұрын
@Kriegsbeil I don't see that with those two bands. Giant had three or four moderate hits and steelheart had maybe 3. Bands like Warrant, Skid Row. White Lion, Whitesnake, Winger, Ratt, Tesla and Jackyl were key players in the early 90s transition. Dokken was a huge missed opportunity. But half those guys were already burnt out and fighting. Or all the way sold out to the machine. Bon Jovi did a lot of damage to the metal also. He changed his musical direction up and went softer. There were some phenomenal records put out by that group and some still sold Gold. Hell Kiss had a hit with Revenge. By 1992 it was all geared towards heavier stuff. Hard driving. Pantera dropped their glam image and helped create a landscape of metal. Metallica had released the black album in 91. That record sold its ass off but it was controversial with their loyal followers. Load and reload were shit. Guns N Rose's dropped 2 nukes on us in 1991 and then disappeared after throwing national tantrum tours. Honestly, as much as I hate to admit it. Heavy metal had wore out its welcome at the top. People were tired of seeing hearing Vince Neil and Axl Rose have beef. Sebastian Bach saying or wearing something insanely dumb. Tearing up studios and hotels. Riots bc the singer is a megalomaniac. Van Halen released great shit but they had changed prior too, and that's why they survived it. They put out some amazing material in the 90s with Sammy and IT SOLD WELL too. Motley started out hard 89, then the drama. Chili Peppers were growing, and they're shit was funky. They were happy go lucky. Gangster rap is growing. Suicidal Tendencies goes Funk. Primus goes Funk. I hated grunge. I was a kid in the 90s and missed the metal days I barely remembered as a little kid. Grunge produced some great bands but as a whole that shit was fuckin lame. Marcys Playground? Wtf kinda stupid name is that? Thet song? Ska? The mighty mighty boss tones? Dude....the 90s was wack with a lot of shit. However, the people in metal got to fat to lazy to greedy and like all empires....they eventually are their own demise.
@Lordhumongus
@Lordhumongus Жыл бұрын
Oh and Tesla. Dude they released some of their finest work as did Warrant in the 90s. Tesla beyond. But 5 Man Acoustical Jam changed shit brotha. Unplugged came after it and then everyone was unplugging. Ratt did one! Slaughter, Skid Row, Firehouse, Jackyl, Trixter, Winger, so many... they all flopped after their first and 2nd releases. They all say well we lost support but all those records they released were just mediocre. Warrant released fire with Dog Eat Dog and Ultraphobic isn't bad at all. Some people like it the best. Those guys could complain. Their shit was fire. Ratt Bon Jovi Motley Poison Whitesnake Tesla Scorpions Priest Maiden those were the guys that pushed the 80s and all but Tesla and the Scorpions flopped in the 90s. By 96 the Scorpions would.

Got to see them at the 2nd Mark & Brian Christmas show. Some of the best 80’s Rock years of my life. It kills me they started at the end of rock and the beginning of grunge . Their talent was insane and at 60, I still crank their music loud! In fact, many amazing rock bands we had never took hold. It still to this day hurts that it all ended so soon. Yes , It wasn’t because I was 20 in 80 and a musician, plus being young. I saw Music change in this era. The 80s! My god an explosion of well written songs, singers , many different avenues of music from all over the world. It was.a glorious time to be a musician too. Music drove that era and even the older generation loved it. Giant came late in the 80s and the music industry always pushes change every ten years. So the poor guys saw their careers end in 93. The 80s actually lasted until 93. Then all the great music like this and heart felt, upbeat music ended. God I miss it! The Berlin Wall came down too because the young people wanted what we had here in the USA. Freedoms.

@@johnfreel6004 Nice summary of the times! Yes, the Berlin Wall. I remember learning about young people who died trying to get to West Berlin, through tunnels, or simply running and hoping not to get shot. The night it came down, some friends and I watched it on tv. Then the tv station showed the James Bond film "From Russia with Love." Suddenly, this once-trendy film seemed vintage:)

I'm so grateful I was there working at A&M in LA when they walked in for meetings for their debut. I got to experience what was to become one of my all-time favorite Rock bands of ALL time now, but didn't know it then. Mingled with them during those days, went back stage when they preformed at I believe was the 2nd Annual Mark and Brian Christmas Show. Sure wish I spent more time seeing them play.... I regret it SO much now! They deserved to be around ALOT longer than they were. Too bad so much talent had to take a step back to 90's grunge!

This was one of my favorite songs in the 90s. I'd listen to it over and over. One day I went on my keyboard and played it by ear. Only the second song I've been tried besides home sweet home. It stuck with me all my life and can no longer play due to illness affecting my hands. These Memories Won't Fade Because its written forever here ❤️ and in my dreams

I fell in love with this song when I was little. The music, emotions and actors really gave this song justice to what's being expressed through poetry. I had a hell of a time trying to replace the cd's as a child & teen. I wore out all 4 of them repeatedly and that was so frustrating! When I toured with my own band, I was fortunate enough to find those copies in Texas, Oklahoma and Tennessee. That's before you could make a copy from your cd and transfer it to your ipod, or listen to it from a purchased download. It was also before the KZbin became a thing to reference our favorite music material! I want to thank the band Giant for sharing such wonderful music with the world! You rock!

Back in the days when MTV still was Music Television along with my family we were on vaccation in Austria or maybe on the way. Could be we stopped somewhere in Germany. First time i saw/heard this one on MTV in a hotel room. Didn't have cable/satellite tv at home so whenever you got the chance to watch MTV it was like a "Hallelujah moment"! Anyway when we had arrived at our destination in Austria i found a record store. In that store i saw a cd with different power ballads including this one! I just had to by it all beacuse of this song!!

I was just going to mention the White Heart connection with the Huff brothers. Of course there are some people that confuse Giant with the group David & The Giants which features the brothers David Huff, Rayborn Huff & Clayborn Huff. Both sets of Huff brothers had success in both the mainstream & Christian music industries.

I had made another comment on another 90s group called MSG here , and remembered this one also back in the early 90s. Giant was a great rock band. More great s came out then, RTZ, Y&T, Nelson, Tangier, Skid Row, Warrant, and The STorm. Damn fine rock bands in those days that was so short lived in popularity, but I still listen to them this day and enjoy them all.

This song is truly one of the most heart wrenching songs ever. The pain from the loss of true love is very tangible for all who listen, and have gone through heartbreak themselves. I love the lyrics about being safe together inside a dream as day time has only memories of them once being together. Perhaps it sounds weird, but it sort of reminds me of the movie, Lady Hawk. Where if, but for a brief moment, the two lovers can once again be together.
