@blabla_9826, how much power do you have "exactly"? We all know, that the EA113 is good for easy 360+ PS without touching the engine inside. For more traction it's recommended to reduce the front stabilisator to 18mm and increase negative camber not more than 2,5°. Then you don't need wider tires! 😁

Hello David, on the one hand I feel proud that you have a memory of my car but on the other hand I feel bad for making you feel sad. Like Dale says, I think this is part of the charm of Touristenfahrten and at the end of the day it is not a race and everyone should drive at their own pace that they feel comfortable with. I am sure you still enjoyed your CSL to the fullest. Afterall it is a legendary M car and being overtaken by a tuned Polo doesn‘t make it any less exciting. 👍

Looks like a very capable car, really cool build! Would love to have a talk with you one day about diffs Dale. Been looking at a Drexler diff myself but couldn't get any information from them on how much maintenance they would need. Was wondering if it would be a big difference compared to my Quaife diff..
@BTGDale3 жыл бұрын
The drexler will definitely need more maintenance, they're a plate-type, and just like a clutch they wear out the more you use them. The Quaife is fire-and-forget
@DutchFocusST3 жыл бұрын
@@BTGDale yea I know its a plated diff. I just get mixed info from how frequent they would need service. Like would they last a full season? 2 seasons? Or half a season? I contacted Drexler about this and told them what I was gonna do with it. They forwarded my email to their dutch distributor and they never responded to it 🤷♂️ And how much of a difference do you think it would make to the quaife? Stock vs quaife was very noticeable and a big improvement, but I have no idea how big of a difference it would be to go to a plated diff. If it would be worth the money and more importantly the extra service cause its quite a bit of work to get the gearbox out and everything.
@BTGDale3 жыл бұрын
@@DutchFocusST definitely not such a big difference from Quaife to Drex. For short circuits with kerbs, or on slicks with more inside wheel lift, it could help. The servicing issue depends on use. One big trackday with lots of wheelspin could do it. Two years of normal use might not. Depends on torque loads
@DutchFocusST3 жыл бұрын
@@BTGDale hmm ok ill think I just stick with the Quaife then and try to keep both front wheels on the black stuff 😁

Dale. You should get an old Alfa 147. It is a hatchback with Double wishbones in the front. A fun 1.6 liter or beefy 2.0 (or highly tuneable 1.9 JTDm) The best part is the annual Alfa meeting at Zanderwoort

Good Tracktool, it may have too much power, see you in 24 hours, in a couple of weeks
@blabla_98263 жыл бұрын
You‘re completely right Axel. The car would be more driveable or atleast less hard on the material like tyres and brakes if it would have less power. A thing that I would really like to optimize is the throttle pedal response but it is tricky to change/adapt this so I just live with the stock settings and try to adapt to the car.

Hello Arno, the Cup2 (Connect) is a tyre I would also like to give a try but having seen how it performs on less powerful cars with a wider dimension I fear the Polo would very quickly destroy the sidewalls with the level of engine power, aggressive locking diff and limited tyre size (215s) I can fit under the car.

That thing pulls philippe 👀 you def need to go 235/40👌🏻 made world of difference on my car, especially with a working lsd. Is it plated diff? It almost looks like a 1.5/2way with the way it reacts on lift 🤔

Hey Kay! I already ran 235s AR-1s and after having done 25 laps in one Tf day they were already on the legal tread depth limit. This was at the start of the Tf season with low temperatures around 20 degree Celsius. Another set of AR-1 had a rubber failure after 14 laps. I won‘t buy Nankang anymore and otherwise the choice for 235/40/17 semi-slicks is very small. The Federal FZ-201 is too wide for a 8j wheel and also not the best quality. There is simply not the right tyre for the application in my opinion that offers a good price/quality and still works reliably. That‘s why I use the Yokohama uhp tyre. Very uncomplicated regarding air pressure, good in rainy conditions and low wear. Perfect to enjoy nice relaxing Tf laps. It‘s a mechanical Drexler differential. I’m not 100% sure about the exact settings but I believe it has 30% locking force on decel.

@@blabla_9826 now thats a good size no wonder your brakes are good you must be using 17 or 18" wheels? Was it difficult to get insurance with all your mods? Great stuff thanks
@blabla_98263 жыл бұрын
@@antsfur The Stoptech ST40 is a very good big brake kit imho. The size of the brake system doesn‘t directly relate to the braking force you can extract but the increased rotor size helps to significantly reduce brake fade due to better heat resistance/dispersion. The whole brake system is more reliable, doesn‘t overheat as quickly as the standard brakes and the four caliper pistons optimize pedal feel and brake modulation but this also can greatly vary with brakepad choice. I run PFC brakepads that are very abs friendly and allow to modulate the braking force which is important in the bumpy braking zones you encounter on the Nordschleife. The Stoptech calipers are big compared to Vmaxx (AP racing design) or Alcon calipers and thus extremely limit wheel choice without needing to run wheel spacers. My Polo runs 8j O.Z. Ultraleggeras which allow to use 215 to 235 tyres. All the modifications aswell as the remap are officially Tüv‘ed and in the documents of the car. As long as all the modifications are road legal and in the papers, there are no problems with the insurance.

IMHO even stock, this car has (way) more engine than it has chassis. I reckon it must quite a handful in the wet.
@blabla_98263 жыл бұрын
You‘re in my opinion completely right. In stock form the original suspension is not well damped and becomes dangerously bouncy on the thin 215/35/18 tyres if you drive above 200 km/h which the Polo R WRC is easily capable of in stock form. By changing the suspension, adding negative camber on the front axle and installing the H&R swaybar kit the chassis becomes more predictable, safe, stable and sporty. I think especially adding a rear swaybar (stock the car only has one in the front) the rear end is transformed and better controllable. I drove for a long time with stock power and I didn‘t really feel the need for more power but as it was so easily extractable I just wanted to do a remap to see how it transforms the car and experience what the engine is capable of.
