Use to hunt those with my pops back in the 70’s. The ones you caught are babies. The big ones can get 4-6 inches across the carapace with the large claw getting big enough to grab around your foot lol. Delicious

Those are the typical land crabs, and they are in season all year round in the Caribbean islands, they can be eaten anytime throughout the year, those are normal size crabs and they gets bigger of course, they are land crabs that likes freshwater, and normally close to a dampe area such as a river, pond or Stream, but again they can still strives within a none wet area as well, because it rains alot in the Caribbean and whenever their holes / barrow gets full with water, then they usually comes out to surface.
