Gabe, I met a couple friends of yours yesterday in Murphy North Carolina. I retired last fall and work part time at the Ingles deli. They stopped by to get a couple of sub sandwiches and I started talking with them about where they were from. They told me they were from Jupiter and I told them I moved up here from living in the Sarasota Bradenton area. I asked if they happened to know you or you two brothers and they said that they knew you quite well and hung out and fished with you a lot. They said they only met Robert a couple of times. Just wanted to say, next time I'm at my sister's in Orlando I would love to come down and fish Jupiter. One thing I miss moving to the mountains is the saltwater fishing as I had at 12 ft Jon boat for flats fishing in Sarasota Bay and a 27 ft boat to go out a couple miles in the gulf. My brother-in-law that passed away a few years back had a 27 ft Sea Ray that we used to go grouper fishing 23 mi offshore. If I make it to Jupiter one day maybe you could recommend an all-day trip on a party boat. I would love to fish the Gulf stream at least one time. Keep up the great videos, I watch you and Robert with every video you put out. I've got your number there in Jupiter so I will try and give you a call in the next year or two.

I live on the coast of WA, and 3 months ago a guy I never met told me that a sealion grabbed him off a dock. It was a BIG male, and it drug him to the bottom. It held him down there for several minutes. When it let him go he floated to the top, and his dad grabbed him. The people there gave him CPR, and he said he was very lucky to survive. . I've heard about sealions grabbing pet dogs, but never an adult. The doctor told him that he should be brain dead for as long as he was under water! I've crab fished off those docks, and have had a big male swim upside down when I was bringing up me crab net. They are HUGE!!!

Yep, that water is cold. One of the reasons I moved to Florida. I had to do a 2 piece , 6mil suit but I' a P when it come to cold. You are spot on with the "weird" feeling of surge. I was diving at Begg Rock (San Nicolas Island), 80' down the surge would push you 30'+ each direction (8-10' swells)! Up close to the rocks it can get downright sketchy! I've had to dig out a number of urchin spines because of it. My best sheepshead was 21lb but that was a fluke, most aren't over 8 or so. Personally though, the flesh tasty but a bit on the soft side.

Now I'm not one to say "I told you so" so, I'm glad you found out how good spearing and eating California Sheephead is!! How much fun were the surges though? Go under on one rock and wind up half a football field away on a different rock, and then maybe next dive the surge takes you back where you started! I love playing and fishing in surges, we have them up here along the British Columbia coast and around Vancouver Island. Glad you shot a fish of a lifetime Gabe!! **ps - you might want a dry suit if you ever plan to dive up here in Canada, especially if you were cold in California or Mexico. I've dove in water that was 10C (and sometimes lower) so that's about 50F or so and I used to wear a 5mm top and 3mm bottoms with 10 -12lbs on my belt. **

Fish skull mounts are AWESOME! My Mother actually does them...IF you can talk her into it. She was a fisheries biologist for about 40 years. Doing skulls was an anatomy and physiology project when she was in school. Sea lions on the Pacific Coast are a scourge. Natives don't hunt them anymore, not many Great White left, and seal-eating Orca are all-but extinct. Zero natural predators anymore = highest populations in recorded history = badly pressured fish stocks.
