Little tip for 3d printing: save your parts as a STEP file instead of an STL. Your round edges will be more or less perfectly round instead of polygonal and your fitments/tolerances will be much better - not to mention a cleaner look!

If you want to sail it from inside, you'll need to cut the windows on the Bridge Deck (usually at the top of the Main Tower) to see where you're going. Nice add the Bismarck style Markings. Next time, build another one and have a battle.

I'm currently working on a project to resurrect a cold-war era 12.8m satellite dish. We've replaced the original very-large DC servo motors (30HP per axis!!!) with some much-smaller modern software-controllable servos and some "'prefix" gearboxes. Initial testing has been encouraging....

You should use compressed air to fire the giant nerf darts. It may not be as safe but it would be a lot more fun and it should also give you a lot more range.

One thought to that may improve cannon performance, use half length darts. The standard, normal scale dart doesn't have great flight characteristics in stock form. The blaster modding community has found that half-length darts fly farther and deviate less from the point of aim. That being said, I don't know how well it would scale up. Also, you could try either the NERF Mega XL darts or even NERF Demolisher rockets.

I would have gone a step up with the turrents. Single air compressor fed through a valve bank to fill pressure chambers for each barrel. Then you can use ammunition that really packs a whollop.. Legality aside.. Maybe 40mm chalk rounds for the epic "explosions", or organic produce like potato's

You need to see the Naval battle at Peasholm park in Scarborough. Been running for ever and is people in warships recreating a battle on the lake throughout the summer months. Complete with explosions, fire and planes flying in to destroy the enemy base. Been going since I was a kid! Great work by the way looking forward to the next video

What a great RC project! The giant Nerf cannon idea is brilliant! BTW for the turrets, you may be able to reduce the wobble of the casings by placing a ring of some sort between the underside of the turret box and the deck. Real full-size warships used rings of roller bearings to cradle the turrets in order to distribute the weight evenly. A thin piece of plywood bent to form a ring with some low-friction tape pasted along the top edge would probably do the trick. Your firing accuracy would likely improve quite a bit. Overall very nice work!

Nice Boat. Reminds me of a ww1 era dreadnought. A reccomendation i can make is to give the turrets a wider ring around the bottom so they are more stable and wont fall of so easy.

You should really build a second one so you can have a proper battle. You could then put paint balls on the end of the darts to see where they hit. It might be good to put FPV cameras on the turrets too so you can aim them. Are you going to have any more speed attempts this year?

Why not use air compressor to allow for a repeating main gun? It can be regulated to cause a dialed in pressure to give them a ability to be accurate.
