Tip for putting the spacers on the lower link in- Put a 8mm or 10mm hex wrench through the drive side to hold the spacers in place as you slide the linkage bolt in from the Non drive side. You can let go of the shock and move the big spacers around making it easier to slide the bolt in. Great videos guys!

I have had my 2017 Giant Reign Adv1 for 7 years now. I have upgraded suspension with fox 38 with 180mm travel and Fox x2 in back. Also upgraded carbon wheels. No creaks, no rattles. Bike us still going strong and still rides awesome.

Maestro suspension has blown my mind, I was not aware of how much difference a planted rear end can make. Had it on a rental bike in Rotorua NZ, it was fantastic. Give it a try, you’ll be amazed.

I got the Reignbow frame-only and built it up for a heckuva lot less than retail. I love it.

I’ve had a number of Giant frames including Trances and a Glory. Great frames. A few wraps of Gorilla tape around the chain stay and rear housing is what I’ve been doing for years on my Giant frames. Agree is a bit of a design flaw but very easy to remedy. One has had a pf bb in for almost five years, and like all my pf bbs it’s bombproof. While I dislike in frame cable routing Giants “open” design I find easy to work with and agree you need housing foam to quiet down cable routing.

I love this suspension geometry. Similar to my Diamondback Mission. Fills stiff when peddling but absorbs hits like crazy.

Great vid, nice to see what you guys run. Giant makes some awesome bikes. They are not mentioned much as most people spending that sort of money go for the boutique stuff like Santa Cruz etc.

My 1st dual suspension bike was a 2019 Giant Trance 2./27.5 The Maestro suspension with a 140mm Fox DPS was able to take a beating but felt very composed, although I had Fox re-valve it because I'm a heavy rider at 230lbs. I had to buy an angle headset because it was to steep. It was a great 1st trail bike. It's good to see Giant modernizing the geo and adjustability.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks Giant is a pain when it comes to dealing with the shock. I had a Trance a few years back and having to remove the shock to change spacers was a pain on that bike. The Ibis Ripmo I had after that and the RM Altitude I ride now are much easier to deal with the shock either for changing spacers or removing it for service (or to adjust the ride 9 on the RM). I will add that Maestro link pedals nice, not quite to the level of a true DW link, but it's close, neither set up will touch a good Horst link for traction though.

Great review, I am always interested to see how skilled riders set their bikes up when they ride the same bike. While I don’t have the carbon version the geo on the tin can version is identical. Stack height is the one thing that I have played around with a lot. I have settled on Burgtec 50mm riser bars, with a 10mm spacer, zero roll and a 40mm stem. It’s surprising how minor changes to the cockpit can change the feel of this bike…might try those high roller 3’s next

I love how it behaves at higher speeds, but small bump sensitivity could be better. I ride 27,5" trance and also thinking about going for 27,5" reign

My first dual suspension was a 2019 Trance II. The Maestro suspension is really good! I've moved on to another brand because of geo I prefer. Currently I'm running a WRP yoke, Cascade link, with an EXT E-Storia coil which is about as good as it gets in the aftermarket realm. I'd actually admit the Maestro feels just as good with a Fox DPS air at 140mm, and I'm a heavy rider at 230lbs.

Really interested to see your long term take on the magura’s. I find people either love or hate them, I have been running the same brakes for a few years now and love them. I did like the Deity Deft traps when I tried them but found their pedal body a little to soft and when trying to replaced bent pins the plastic of the body gave way sometimes and stripped the side holding the nut.

Giant is such a huge company that they don't really concentrate too much on marketing. I think they also build bikes for Trek lowkey.

I rode three Giant FS bikes over ten a ten year run. Great value.😀 What calliper mount did you use on this build? I have MT7 Pros with SRAM HS2 6-bolt rotors and P2 mount (2 bolt) 20mm adapters. Are the 4 bolt (20-P2) adapters more solid or have any advantage over the 2 bolt adapters? Both my fork and frame have 180 posts.

You missed the smallest detail, Giant is the biggest and more experienced carbon frame manufacturer by far. They also have their own high end carbon production factory, they stand as the only bike company that is equipped with this. This really is the biggest factor comparing giant to other bikes.

I'm also a big big big Maestro fan. To this day my old 26" Giant Reign with a coil shock was one of the best damn bike I've ever owned. I would love to own of of these but my past experience with pressed in bottom brackets is keeping me at bay. I so wish it had a threaded BB
@conman139517 күн бұрын
Giant is one of the only brands that's every done them correctly. Their tolerances are perfect. Preventing yourself from moving on to a newer bike just because of the BB is silly
@lucacadianalbert17 күн бұрын
@@conman1395 Regardless how how perfect the tolerances are, I still think they are a stupid design. If I was only planning on owning my bike a few years, then okay - but if you plan on owning your bike for a long time, they aren't the best. I know this because I currently have a one piece BBinfinite BB that I had to permanently epoxy in my frame because the BB shell was ovalized - getting it in there straight and flush wasn't fun. Anyway...Could have sworn the new Trance X they had on display at Sea Otter had a threaded BB but looking at the specs online they also use pressed in BB
