As an Indian, I believe that India is at least 50 years behind our neighbor China in terms of technology. Our government is spending money on purchasing weapons and providing loans to poorer countries, while we ourselves are financially struggling, all to create an illusion of wealth. To make matters worse, my country ranks 111th in the Global Hunger Index, performing worse than some of the poorest African nations. It's a deeply shameful situation for my India.

This is rather confusing. Neutrino detectors have been around for decades and there are many active right now. The article fails to make it clear what is different in this reactor from previous ones.

@venanziadorromatagni1641
@venanziadorromatagni1641 12 сағат бұрын
@@juanincognito It’s not classified. Nor is it ‘classified’. I’m fairly sure the issue lies with the article (particularly its brevity), not the experiment itself. Talking about modern physics experiments in a general public newspaper is never easy, I admit. The amount of underlying terminology and the very theoretical nature of the questions asked make it rather difficult to talk about this in a way that provides scientific details while still engaging the public.

Observation: before China, only the West was capable to build such facilities, thus, they could choose who to come to do research (by default: most researchers came from western sphere). Some of them would receive Nobel Prize down the line (after 20-30 years). As a result, Nobel prizes and the likes, as appeared on mass medias, come from western researchers, which can be used to justify the superiority of western model, making political interference into, e.g. South America, Middle East, by the West, more acceptable. Because everyone wants development, don't they?
@freemanol
@freemanol 13 сағат бұрын
that's true generally. people copy western ideologies and biases, because they think it's the path to prosperity, which is flawed logic. like throwing away your chopsticks and eating only burgers and fries, thinking that's modernity
