Giant TCR Advanced: Compatible with any groupset, Di2-ready out-of-the-box (relevant hardware and silicone plugs are included with the bike), no proprietary cockpit, satisfactory ride feedback. There's not much to fault about this bike. And I'll definitely take the previous-gen SuperSix EVO with rim brakes any day, just like the Cannondale I used to know.

I recommend the videos from "Luescher Teknik" about the design failure of the SuperSix. Long story short, they have built a headset movement limiter within the fork crown that hits the frame itself when that limit is reached. Not sure if C'dale has acknowledged the failure yet, and if they are going to do anything to solve it.

I actually picked up both, the 2021 TCR advanced pro O and a 2022 Supersix Evo in the last week. Returning the TCR. Supersix has a little less aggressive stack, better finish, and more comfy ride. At this price point, I think that most are significantly less price sensitive than new buyers. Also in the USA, most of the riders I rode with had no idea that Giant made anything more than entry level bikes…🤔. I had to convince them it was a serious bike.

I love my 2014 Giant TCR, it's light, it's nimble and it's red, black and white paint scheme is the best. But I am getting on in years and am switching to a comfort bike, the TCR Defy Advanced with its smaller 34/50 crankset and its 11/34 cassette, both of which combine to facilitate climbing those more difficult hills.

I own a systemsix Hi-mod and I find it very comfortable, more than my old 2013 synapse. I tested a Giant Defy few days ago, with big tubeless tires (30 or 32), and I felt the road like crazy. I ride my systemsix with tubetype GP5000 at 6,5-7 bars and the road cracks are damped through the whole bike. With the Defy, an endurance bike, I felt everything in the handlebar. It seems that Cannondale damps with the whole frame, but Giant do it with the seat post and mostly from the rear. It was a strange feeling, I did not like it. I would like to test the TCR but my guess is the supersix is more comfortable. The sad truth about bikes : it's easier to test a Porsche or a Mercedes than a carbon road bike. We have to rely on youtube to make a choice !

Overall (probably) what you get for the money, TCR is the best bike on the market, period. I have TCR 2015 and don't thing about a change in the near future. The geometry of the frame, carbon quality, aerodynamic, handling are superb! I have ridden many top bikes while being on holiday (rental)...still TCR is my choice...great all-around bike, fast on flat and in the mountains. I had a TCR 2021 disc, and for the time that I had it it has not disappointed in the least. It’s fast, comfortable, and easily wins me my break aways. That said, the only problem with the TCR is that it’s too damn common. Literally you can blindly throw a stone and will probably hit someone on a giant on the course. So I sold it, and am now deciding between either the dogma F or the sl7. Great bike. But not a bike that makes me happy owning one if that makes sense. So between the two, it’s certainly the supersix for me.

I have put several 100 miles on both of these bikes in recent months and I must say there is one huge difference. The way they take power. If you can lay down some watts the TCR is going to feel like an angry snake beneath when you apply some power to the pedals. The bottom bracket and frame twist and shout, impersonating wet linguine at an Italian karaoke night. I was very disappointed in how the TCR felt under acceleration. The Supersix felt like every other Supersix I've ridden, snappy and taking that power and turning it into speed.

If you're talking about full external routing (like the ones on 20th-century road bikes, but they're actually just called external routing), not on mass-production carbon road bikes at least. If you're talking about traditional internal routing (where internal routing starts from the down tube and this is NOT called as external routing), usually the less expensive ones still have it.

Basically the conclusion is that there is no real winner. For price/quality Giant wins, but purely on performance Cannondale wins. Where Cannondale wins as well in my opinion is that during the last 3 decades they have been the #1 pioneer in bicycle innovations. It's not just that they win all independent tests for example for frame stiffness and aerodynamics, but the money you spend goes in R&D to make bikes even better, compared to Giant where your money doesn't go to bringing bikes to the next level, but rather in optimizing the cost structure. In my opinion it's not strange that with all the money Cannondale spends on R&D, you pay a slightly higher price tag.

A Caad12 105 (rim brake version) in 58cm was 8,3kg without pedals. But it comes with heavy wheels, heavy tyres and the 105 group set is heavy as well. I swapped these parts I've mentioned and my Caad12 is now sitting on 7,3kg, but will be sub 7kg later this year after some more upgrades.

@jkk916 3 жыл бұрын
@@mrtnknrr Wheels and also seatpost on Caad12 were heavy AF. My Caad12 Ultegra (54 cm) is now 7.4 kg with pedals and bottle cages. And I use relatively heavy carbon fiber clincher wheelset (around 1700 g). No fancy stuff on that bicycle. I also changed seatpost (it was cheap), handlebars and seat (I would do that anyway no matter the weight). I also have different stem but there is no way to loose significant weight by changing it. It is crazy how easier and cheaper is to get to 6.8 kg with a rim brake bicycle. Excuses for buying disc brake bike like "rim brakes are destroying rims" and "I want to save money on my expensive wheelset" always crack me up.

I'd take the TCR Advanced. The SuperSix EVO has a steel bump stop at the fork's crown, which if it hits the frame hard from a sudden steering input in, say, a crash, it can cause cracks at the bottom of the head tube (refer to Luescher Tecnik's video about this, but the one he had on hand is bladed, one of the ones I personally see is round).

what is a drag of the rider and what is the grag of the bike i know size of rider will make a difference but is it 70% rider 30% bike ?

You're close, around 80% of the drag is generated by the rider.

Both have such ugly cable routing into the down tube, I like both bikes but wouldn't get either because of this. I was looking at getting the TCR with 105, remove the 105 and selling, then fit AXS Rival.

Sorry, but I have a TCR 2019, it's a great machine, I'd go for the TCR any day. And I just can't stand a bike manufacturer that wants to peddle it's own crankset, it just makes it look worse than the TCR - and it doesn't have a Power Meter.

When choosing between SS & TCR, this is also part of the consideration. I want a ‘toyota-solid’ quality but fun to ride. TCR it is for me

I love my pre-drop seat stay EVO, but I'll never buy a dropped seat stay anything ever. I don't care about any benefits (perceived or otherwise). I just can't do it. Having said that, the Giant is a better looker here for sure as is the Specialized Aethos. After getting rid of that "Crackn'fail" name and building wonderfully robust second generation bombproof framesets that the ultralighters love, Cannondale has decided to digress back to their old ways and to faulty designs with massive frame failures again. Go back to what's reliable (Specialized did).

Good review but I won’t pick either one. The frame sets for both are just too skinny and the bikes look weak. I like the 2009 giant tcr zero. On top of that bike manufacturer that does offer rim brakes is a big no! I got myself a pinarello dogma f12 rim brake and I am please. Next bike will be a colnago! Rim brake of course. In the future I will have a titanium custom made and of course rim brake!

The old Supersix was a real gem. This new generation is garbage. Research the headtube issues. It’s unreal they are putting this to market. The TCR is a proven frame that has kept its identity whereas cannondale sold its soul. Miss the old Evo and so glad I have one !

Madtriboy blows away … interesting … based on? Being heavier? Numb steering and feedback? The old evo was a race bike. Current is an endurance bike. Lose your pride of ownership syndrome Anyone who has raced bikes would say the same. I’ve ridden the new evo , and it’s dull. Simply lacks any character the original had.
