Your physical strength and perseverence amaze me! A 22 mile trip on my ebike is a big deal for me (here in Colorado). Ha! I have a vlog too, which I enjoy creating, even though it is a big time sink! So I, also, very much appreciate your video editing! I am a professional artist and the video editing has become another art form, so I understand about you wanting to uphold these two ventures at the same time. I add some small bike rides to my videos because I am hoping to get more people out of their cars and onto a bike to clean up the air around here! I am doing all of my errands on my new ecargo bike this month. Not too shabby for a 67 yr old! You go, Cheerio!!

From a fellow bikepacker - Great riding. Please don't get mad about the guys telling you stuff or the flat tire or other; just go with the flow as you said, and try to enjoy the moment. The great thing is not just getting there, to your destination ... it's the journey to get there soi enjoy as much as you can. Always be safe and good riding.

Tough ride. You are one of my heroes. Flats are no fun. One year I had 37 which works out to 1 flat every 10 days. I now have a speedier way to remove and install tires to fix flats. There are several videos about this tool on KZbin. It is the Crank Brothers Speedier tire lever. While it is possible to fix a flat with one tire lever, I like to use 2 levers. The removal can be done with 1 lever pretty simply but 2 levers makes installing easier. I know some rim/tire combinations are very tough to remove the tire but I have used this tool with many different tires now. And because of my history with flats I have changed tire brands and I usually use some very thick tires and tubes just because I hate flats.

As a portuguese cyclist who knows just about every sign that you have filmed, let me give you some advice on your route. From Porto continue north but inland passing Guimarães and Braga where there are some beautiful bike paths since the coastal road is dangerous and uninteresting. Once you hit the Rio Minho river go west along the river because there many very beautiful villages. Once you hit the sea at Caminha, catch the ferry to Spain and do the entire Galicia coast but always along the coast, contouring every inlet and ria. Do not be tempted to go straight as you will miss beautiful beaches and villages and wonderful views of sea and mountains. The further north you go the prettier it gets. And then keep hugging the coast all the way to France. There are lots of steep short hills that you might need to push but totally worth it. And don't forget to eat out a lot, very good and cheap food. If you can afford the campsites they are quite cheap and comfortable and you will meet other cyclist.

Thanks for the recommendations! My videos are not up to date (that's impossible while traveling) and I'm almost in France already, but I've seen many places you've been talking about! Best thing about Portugal: kind people and Pastel de nata🥰🥰🥰

I've not seen much of what you eat, but have heard you complain of being tired after what seems like a short distance, so I have to ask if you focus on 'slow carbs' for cycling energy? Oats work very well for me. Also: I see you changing tubes & mentioning multiple flats, & already saw another video where you wanted to convert to tubeless but seemed unable to without saying why. It sounded like you got distracted by other issues without actually closing the tubeless idea. So I have to ask whether you went tubeless and, if not, whether you are using tire liners to protect your tubes from foreign objects through the tread? Tire liners work well for me. Also: I recognized English curse words, & perhaps some German. Do you know any other language curse words? Hahahahaha. Your honestly is so refreshing.

You speak a lot about your mistakes/stupidities, I appreciate that. Some vlogs don't talk much of the downsides. I imagine myself making more stupid mistakes than you and I am 45 now and just rediscovered the bike 2 years ago and never bike packed. When life gives you a hard day remember for all the pain you are getting other good memories.... there are so many people who would like to experience what bike packers do but for a multitude of circumstances cannot. Have fun and ride on! BTW You are right to complain about those of us with a shorter chromosome, some don't have basic instinct control. It undermines all the superiority claimed.

@giantcheerio2 жыл бұрын
You are right, I am using strong language and I am aware that this is not the behavior most people would like to see. Sometimes life sucks and I would rather explain children that it is okay to freak out as long as we don't hurt anyone than suppressing our feelings until we get sick. I Also think there are worse things shown on free TV than a bikepacking woman, having a hard time.
