Bici e bagagli sono pronti, almeno fino in aeroporto, dove si deve far passare più peso possibile nella franchigia dei biglietti aerei. Volare nel mondo con due bici, di cui una da MTB, senza pagare supplementi per il peso in eccedenza, ogni volta richiede sforzi ed inventiva! Poco incidono sulla bilancia qualche capo di vestiario ed un’attrezzatura minima per viaggi come questi che normalmente durano un mese e mezzo ma, superato lo scoglio del check-in, segue quel lungo tempo sospeso nel cielo ad ammirare da sopra le nuvole i giochi di luce delle albe e dei tramonti che si susseguono rapidamente. C’è tutta la calma necessaria per buttarsi alle spalle le numerose zavorre ed entrare in una nuova dimensione in cui tracciare rotte nuove sognando i paesi che ci aspettano. Ad Osaka le nostre bici arrivano integre, pronte per essere montate e nel nostro quartiere in centro c’è un meccanico che ce le rimette in strada. Ora siamo pronti per attraversare Giappone e Corea del Sud in bikepacking, non senza prima concederci una serata nel luccicante quartiere di Dotonbori.
Bikes and luggage are ready, at least all the way to the airport, where we have to fit as much weight as possible according to the airline ticket allowance. Flying around the world with two bikes, one of which is a MTB, without paying extra for excess weight, requires much effort and creativity every time! A few items of clothing and minimal equipment have little impact on the weight limit for trips like ours which normally last a month and a half. But, once the check-in is done, we can enjoy a long flight admiring the different colours of light and the many alternating sunrises and sunsets in the sky. We regain all the calm necessary to let go of the ballasts and enter a new dimension in which we can imagine new routes and dream of the countries that await us. In Osaka our bikes arrive intact, ready to be assembled and downtown we find a mechanic who can mount them. Now we are ready to bikepack along Japan and South Korea, but first we treat ourselves to a dinner in the glittering Dotonbori district.
