I've noticed I can't use the profiler if a sub spindle CS is active. I know you can extract geometry with the main spindle CS active but the part I'm doing has some angled holes that are on a different CS than anything in the main SP. Am I doing something wrong?

If you have a solid model on the sub side, and say you did a duplicate-and-transfer to get the solid model into the sub-spindle, Gibbs does not know that the solid you translated is actually in the sub spindle. All it really knows is that you duplicated the part in the main spindle. If you want Gibbs to know that the solid model is indeed IN the sub-spindle, do this. First make sure you separate the solids by going to the Solid Model pallet after you select the solids (they should both highlight) and click on the Separate icon. Now that they are separated open the CS pallet. Click on the solid model in the sub-spindle, then go to the CS pallet and Right-click on ZX Plane (sub spindle). A window will pop up. Then choose Change CS (XYZ). Now Gibbs will know the solid model is assigned to the sub spindle, then you can use the profiler.

Normally you use MTG (move tool group) to get the turret out of the way before bringing the sub-spindle forward to get the part. Also if per say you brought up the sub spindle, then parted the bar, you don't want the turret to move back in Z, otherwise you might crash into the sub spindle, you just want the turret to retract in X before the sub-spindle goes home. Shift part. Many times your part is too long to make the cut holding with just the main spindle because of vibration, etc, so you cut some of the part, then grab with the sub, pull out some, then keep machining the rest of the part. That is where you use Shift Part.
