In 10 lifetimes I could never play as well as this man. A truly gifted player.

Just like Mark Agnesi before him, Michael Lemmo very easily makes me remember why I became a guitar player. That doesn't mean either of them could sell me on picking up a model that I wasn't really interested in, no matter how much either of them could make this one totally rock. It's just that Michael and Mark are both awesome players. I miss seeing Mark during GOTD uploads.

Give the exact same guitar and amp set-up to a thousand “normal” guitarists and they could never reach Lemmo’s level of control, touch, or attack. Brilliant! (and I’m not even British).

Good haircut Lemmo. Had a few of these, single and double cutaway, yellow and red, in the 70's. Only one at a time, traded and sold them. Cool guitars.

At last! A "guitar of the day" that I can finally say I've already got one! Great guitar although I think a single cut Junior might just beat it.

I used to have a ES-125TC, single neck position dog ear P90. I didn't use the tone control much. I did on occasion roll the tone all the way down for the "woman tone". But for the most part it was volume, which changes the tone depending on how much you roll it off, and more so, where I strummed and picked. Pick close to the bridge with the volume cranked for a biting lead tone and closer to the neck with the volume rolled off for rhythm. The closer to the neck and the more "bell like" the tone became.

Can someone please explain the continued appeal of these things, single or double-cut? They look like projects for a high school woodshop / electronics class final. I get personal nostalgia for those of you old enough, but compared aesthetically to just about any other Gibson model, they aren’t even close. And I think the ‘maximum minimalism’ rationale sounds suspiciously like stock hipster contrarianism.
@looking_33 Жыл бұрын
It's a gibson from their desirable 50s-60s golden age that are more affordable, more available, made by the same people, use the same pickups. Some people also just prefer the tone of the Jrs. or even the simplicity, such as an esquire. Would you say the telecaster is also a high school woodshop project? Because the origins of it are much more akin to that. Set necks and angled headstocks on the Jrs. are still much more difficult to make than telecasters.
@docdaytona108 Жыл бұрын
@@looking_33 I can’t argue that the Telecaster is a comparably primitive electric guitar, but I will say that its form, as devoid of frills as it is, is substantially more timeless and enduring. I realize that’s subjective, but I also feel confident that’s been the consensus over the decades. I also don’t care for “pawn shop guitars,” i.e., older guitars from obscure brands, with especially quirky offset bodies, clunky controls, and four lipstick pickups, so I’m clearly not the target audience for a guitar like this.
@Panic42000 Жыл бұрын
Have you ever played one? The appeal is not everyone has the same taste as you. I have one of these and they sound and play amazing. The telecaster also has nothing to do with this guitar. You can’t even compare the two.

Ain't NO way that Super Reverb is cranking out that tone without some outboard help, especially not sitting two feet away from it. What pedal is Lemmo goosing it with?
