Gibson and Epiphone Greeny Les Paul Standard Comparison

I think I like the Epiphone Greeny better than the Gibson. The Gibson just looks like a Gibson Les Paul Standard. The Epi, is Greeny! My opinion.

There is a big difference in finish for sure. They both played great.

Most Epiphone's depreciate at an alarming rate, even the new inspired by Epi's depreciate at around 30% by the time they reach the used market. My advice then, if you are on a budget and want one of these, don't buy either new, and that's especially the case as regards the Epiphone. The veneer top on the Epiphone looks dead compared to the Gibson's solid top and the Epi's Laurel board doesn't look as good as the Gibson's rosewood, aesthetically that makes a huge difference. Sound wise there isn't a lot in it, because they are both using the same pick ups. Both guitars are really expensive for what you are getting and there are far better value Les Paul style guitars offering the Greeny experience out there, so neither would appeal to me personally, if I was in the market, for this style of guitar.

Because they make multiple batches of each special run...like the Liefson Epiphone...they are making a 5th run on them. They make sure to saturate the market

Can't argue with you about the looks of the Gibson over the Epiphone. The Epi looks good until you hold it next to the Gibson. I can see why some people would love this guitar and it is cool that they are available for them. After playing them, we were not horrified by the price. Especially, if you are a big fan of the Greeny. They were fun to check out.

@@PJandtheBeardthe sound difference may be because the Gibbo has unpotted pups and the Epi has wax potted as far as I know.
