Tom Walker former Music Man told me the first year Fender used slab rosewood boards they almost all went back for warranty for that very reason!! Fenders fix was the thinner veneer curved boards!!The reason that binding did not un glue is that it its a board with slots in the sides that the binding strips slot into to speed glue up !! bets in that with those slots it compromises the boards stability!

Would you say there is any room in the industry for new guitar or amp luthiers?
@Gorillaguitarrepair4 ай бұрын
Absolutely! It's a dying art. Our amp side of the shop has over a month wait just to get in because both of our amp techs are over 60, semi retired, and only work part time. From what I've heard, that seems to be the case everywhere.

I am all for saving old guitars but some of those repairs must be very costly. When do you say time to say goodbye and go get a good one. Some Vintage guitars have had so much work done just to keep it original, only really its not the same original guitar. of course most Vintage guitars have had work done but when does it stop being original. In an old UK comedy show some road sweeper said head had the same Broom for 20 years. Only replaced the head 30 times and the handle 20 times. I would be interested how much that neck repair has cost. Amazing work but not cheap I imagine. And will the new buyer know about the repairs?
@Gorillaguitarrepair4 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yes, the new buyer will know about it. The cost on this one will be around $400-500 retail. The current owner got it at a substantial discount because of the condition of the neck. I certainly have told people that they shouldn't put money into a guitar that just isn't worth it. Sometimes they insist. Sometimes I outright refuse.

I would love to see you remove the fretboard whole. That’s incredible.

I did. And I'm sure I'll have more to do soon. This kind of failure is more common than people think. Stay tuned and thanks for watching!

Did you set any relief in that neck? Freehand Dremel routing😳 Poor spacing of the reinforcement 😳 C’mon 😱
@Gorillaguitarrepair4 ай бұрын
Yes, a little. Poor spacing? Please explain. And it's cool if most people aren't confident enough with their tools to use them without a guide. Just grasp your tool firmly with both hands and use a firm but smooth back and forth motion. 😉😂

Don’t leave it on a for a long time. Blue is low tack and safe for the short term
@Gorillaguitarrepair4 ай бұрын
Yes. If it's left on too long it will leave an imprint in nitro. I think StewMac sells a "nitro safe" version as well.
