i think you chose the perfect tone for that guitar, it was very complimentary. having owned on in the past, i think your review was very accurate. i don't know what the market is like in the u.k. but here in america, the used market is down right now. no matter the guitar (almost) buying used makes the most sense (right now) but most especially with something like an explorer.

Sounds great! Almost hearing some Michael Schenker in parts 😎👌

It always surprised me how versatile the classic Explorer is - those Burstbucker pickups sound awesome and that’s a great tune, John - especially the harmonies! 👍

I've always loved the looks of the Explorer....or other Brand's equivalent....but they take up so much extra space!

Just love the sound of the neck p/u! I have an Explorer copy that has Warman minihumbuckers. As well as sounding good I find it a very comfortable guitar to play, particularly as I have a dodgy shoulder!

Such an underrated guitar IMO. Comfortable to play and sounds second to none.

Sounds great Big Fella, your playing is sounding crisp. You must be getting used to your lack of finger usage, i hope your finger is getting better? Great show as ever. PEACE AND LOVE TO EVERYONE ❤❤.

Is it the warm audio centavo overdrive?

No mate. Ryra Klone 👍

Might be a very small and unimportant point but the traditional bell shaped Truss rod cover nicked from the Les Paul parts bin just doesn't look right on this guitar. You would have thought Gibson could have designed something more in keeping with the more angular shape of the guitar

I had just been thinking the same thing - funny that, as I hadn’t before and then I saw your comment …

Would I pay £2k for a guitar? Only if the wife was never going to find out😮

Great review John. I thought £12 was a steal 😃

Got a Harley Benton version of this guitar. Looks very similar, plays well, sounds good. Paying an extra £1700 isn't going to make me sound any better. Is the Gibson better? of course it is. But I ain't thinking £1700 is worth it.

Nice guitar to win, specially from a pro luthier. 👍

The Ungainly Duckling is really a Regal swan, eh? A little too pricy, unfortunately.

It looks fabulous and sounds brilliant but I think you’ve got to play the right kind of music or have enormous “cojones” to carry it off. Although it’s interesting what you say about about the guy in the country band so maybe it can be done.
