To what you was saying about ppl getting pissed off cause you wish everyone a Merry Christmas, that's the ppl getting pissed off who either don't understand our culture or they are just being pricks about it! I was raised to respect ppl, give respect to get respect! Understanding the boundaries of others culture is also respectful, and those who don't needs a lesson on respect and manors! Keep at it, I know we all are enjoying the videos, also learning a lot from you! Thank you for sharing!

Dave the Difference between the Two Les Paul you did the Custom had an Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge (Screws into the metal bushing) the other Les Paul (which looks like Classic with booger snot green inlays) had an ABR-1 Bridge (Screws into Wood). With ABR-1 you can lower that all the way down to body of the guitar particular where as with the Nashville TOM you really can't cause it has the bigger saddles.

If they don't like it, they should move on! Ian

From Gibson regarding truss rod adjustment Adjust The Truss Rod? Virtually every modern guitar has an adjustable truss rod: a length of (varying) metal that runs inside your guitars' necks. It will keep the neck straight for a better playing feel. But there are nuances, often because of the way wood simply “works”. On Gibson electrics, you'll find the adjustable end of the truss rod under the (duh!) truss rod cover on the headstock. Usually, all you need is a screwdriver and hex key/wrench. Gibson Set Up Tips Loosen your truss rod and the strings pull the neck into a “concave bow”, resulting in higher action. Slide players often like this - it gives more distance between the strings and the fretboard. Tighten it, and the neck bends backward, a “back-bow”, moving the strings closer to the fretboard. If you're a shredding soloist, this may be better. But there's no “right” or “wrong” way. It's all down to how you play. But it's worth experimenting.

Oh brother. Typical Gibson worthless info.

Should neck relief be rechecked after adjusting string height, visa/versa, all of the above, or none of the above?
@j_freed7 жыл бұрын
sewing1243 - Here's a suggestion: start with a preliminary truss rod adjustment measuring relief, and do a second relief check when you have done all other setup and string change up to pitch in case you need to adjust again . Then the relief should be checked at least a day or three after that because the neck can move a bit as the change in truss rod tension settles into the neck wood and it becomes totally stable. The bridge saddle heigh affects string height and action but it doesn't affect neck relief.
@sewing12437 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! My thinking is that the neck relief adjustment might have a slight effect on string height.
@ryanstrozeski9767 жыл бұрын
Adjusting the neck will always affect the string height, or the saddles effective parameters rather. On the other hand only adjusting the string height via saddle adjustment shouldnt have a major impact on the necks current state unless your adjusting way beyond playability or the norm. That isnt to say one shouldn't re measure necks relief several times when making other adjustments because its measurement is the foundation to the remaining measurements accuracy.
@ericheder7777 жыл бұрын
Dave what size Allen keys are you using for pickup height and also what measurement are you using for string height? Thank you

Dave, I retired two years ago, after working for 52 years. The day I walked out of work, my head cleared, knowing that I didn't have to put up with anyone else's bullshit anymore. For us matured people, it just gets too hard to do anything without a pile of paperwork, put in place by young people, just out of Uni, with no practical experience. Common sense is being bred out of people now.
