A special sound. The Gibson Les Paul Special is a vintage rock icon. Originally designed as an improved Les Paul Junior, the simple flat body and dual P90 pickups made it extremely popular with professional guitarists who wanted a lighter, cut-down version of the Les Paul.
The dual P90 pickups deliver a range of classic Gibson sounds. Much hotter than traditional single coils, these pickups push out plenty of power while retaining their unique character. You also get a vintage feel to match the historic tone. With a '50s profile mahogany neck, and a traditional rosewood fingerboard, you get an amazing playing feel that's fast and smooth. I totally agree with you. Playing clean in a guitar demo allows the tone and response of the guitar to come through. You get to hear the nuances of the instrument and hear the subtle tones ring out. Distortion does not allow for tonal distinction as most guitars will sound the same through distortion.

@@blackiejames1843 not true. Every guitar has it's own voice both clean and driven, I appreciate both but the concept holds true in both cases. P90 pickups take distortion really well and they sound amazing with some gain.

Please hardly no one plays metal tones with these things. The majority of people buying Les Pauls are playing Rock and Metal not Jazz.

@@KrispyCoins You're not wrong in that the majority of customers are playing these instruments with some form of overdrive - and 98% of demo videos out there are perfectly suited for those folks. I mostly play clean so this one rare demo of it clean was very useful and fun. There's also different flavors of distortion and overdrive - and they mostly mask the actual tone of the guitar. Even players who prefer playing with overdrive, can get a lot of intel from hearing the initial baseline clean tone of a guitar first.

Have two of these , if it doesn’t have bound neck don’t buy it . Know it’s just me but I could have just one guitar , and I ve got 31 fenders , Gibson’s , Gretchs , music mans Those p 90s are just awesome , just perfect size necks too

I just picked up a USA Standard LP Special and while the stock p90s are unbalanced (equal output which makes the neck pickup seem hotter than the bridge) I'd put them up against the Fralins in my Novo any day. The Gibsons are more raw but clean up beautifully with the volume knob. They're staying in. I scanned Reverb for a month looking for the lightest one I could find and snagged one at 7.5 lbs. It's just right. It's a keeper

no idea, but using into a clean amp a TS with gain half or as you like and then a Klon with gain in 0. Or something similar. I tried that once in the Fractal and wow, sounded amazing!

The fender and p90's are what get that twang tone, you can get close with a Tele but the p90's is where it's at !

I think there's some kind of Tube screamer at the end. The mid push doesn't sound like it's still the Fender. I might be wrong though.

Anybody know why the TV Yellow ($1600) is so much more expensive than the white ($1000)? They both have 2 P-90s. Are they charging $600 extra just to have the more iconic color?

The white version is the tribute version... check all the specs.. tribute as a satin finish and rounded neck for example... not a vintage 50' ...don't know if it's the same P90... But basically the tribute les paul are cheaper for all the range
