Rob Chapman Don't know if anyone's pointed this out yet but you guys spread some incorrect information around 6:20 The amount of boost is changeable via an internal trimpot. So it's not "10dB or nothing" as you said, but actually an entire range from 0 to 10. Just want to keep correct information flowing :) maybe you guys will put a little annotation on at that time with the correct info. Thanks!
@BD-me4nk4 жыл бұрын
Rob was referring to no ability to control the boost from the knobs. You are right it can be adjusted internally

Hey, that 10 db boost, you *CAN* adjust it. Take a screwdriver and pop off the back plate with the battery cover. There's a pot in there that you can dial back. They actually come stock at about 7db, you can turn it up or down.

doas any of your les pauls make hum noises?
@DaveHorvath110 жыл бұрын
gabriel guevara Only when the humbucker is switched to a single coil. The Trad Pro II has a true coil split thus the hum. It really depends on the amp. If it's a high gain amp then yes. I use an isp decimator II to quite things down. Works like a charm.

Yeah I have one too and they really are brimming with awesomeness!! Evidently Andertons didn’t snap them ALL up as I got mine from GuitarGuitar in Birmingham. However, it was pre-owned so I guess it could’ve snuck it’s way to Birmingham 🤷🏼♂️ But yeah they really are incredible - I didn’t know they were a sort of rarity in this country though. Interesting

These are very comparable to my 2013 LP Studio Deluxe II '50's. They have those same push-push pots and 10dB boost. The Traditional Pro II gets the binding that the SD II doesn't but my SD II gets an all gloss finish. Also, mine has a 490R(?) in the neck pos and a BurstBucker at the bridge. They sound much alike as well. I hadn't heard much at all about mine and now I sorta know why. It was probably unique to Guitar Center but it's good to see some of the features elsewhere.

Wow! My guitar is almost identical to the one Lee is holding at the beginning of this video, except mine has a flame pattern to the top. Mine's even a 2013 year model. Oh, and that LP Traditional Pro II was a special deal through Guitar Center, just in case anybody doesn't know. BTW, the Traditionals are the best deals out there for a standard type LP. Anywhere from $1000 to $3000 less than the "regular" LPs. But I can't tell the difference between them. Rob, I take my "scratch plates" off too!

After playing one of these in a second hand shop, and loving the awesome playability, and it's light unchambered weight, I bought it (used) for $1350.00. I like it enough that my LP Custom has collected about an inch of dust in its cutaway from sitting unused on its stand. The reasons I like it so much are explained in the video. The only caveat is the poor quality of all of the electronics except for the pickups. If you buy one, figure on getting a battery jack to replace the rotten battery holder on the back plate. You should then try to find higher quality push-push pots to replace the lousy originals. I couldn't locate any, so I had to settle for push-pull pots. Lastly, I can't stand chrome on a Lester, so I replaced all of the hardware with aged nickel, including the addition of nickel pickup covers. She's dialed in now, and it's highly doubtful that she'll be going anywhere soon.

I played one of these at my local big box guitar shop here in the US and I must say, this is one outstanding Lester. It will be my next Les Paul. It just has so many tone variations that it's a must have addition to my 2009 LP Traditional and my 2012 LP Jr. Special with dual Humbuckers. The 10db boost was most noticeable when engaged on the clean channel of a Fender Blues Deluxe. It took it from the amazing Fender clean tone to a nice buttery distortion with the perfect amount of gain.

I have a 2009 LP Traditional Plus. It's basically a '59 LP without the bumble bee caps. It also has the "swiss cheese" weight relief, but still weighs in just under 10lbs. The 2013 LP Traditionals are made with no weight relief and have orange drop capacitors. So those are even closer to a '59. My LP TRAD + sounds close enough to a '59 for me, but I wish I would have held out for the 2013 model, just 'cause.

These were such a fantastic value, it's a real shame they don't make them anymore. Really nice pickups (the neck '57 Classic is fantastic), coil-splitting versatility and a really clean boost that is surprisingly useful. And yes, you can adjust the amount of gain; you're not stuck with 10dB. There's an adjustable pot inside the cavity. Set it as low as you want it. I got a 2014 model (oddly enough the serial number shows it was built in 2011, but it's stamped "2014 model") with a really nice flamed top that's as nice as most Standards I've seen. They still show up used on GC, and they even have one or two brand new, but otherwise you risk it on ebay or craigslist. This was a popular model and I can only speculate they discontinued it because it was outselling more expensive models. Great guitar all around. I'd never spend what they want on the top models, but also don't feel like I got any less guitar.

I'm not sure if someone has said this already, but the reason the Standards are more expensive are: prettier top, different back finish, more color options, asymmetrical neck profile, compound fingerboard radius, BurstBucker pickups. All of those things add up to quite a bit of extra production cost. That said, the Trad Pro IIs are pretty sweet guitars, for you guys in the UK who've never run into them.

Actually, with the 10dB boost pot, if you open the control cavity, you can adjust how much of that 10dB you're actually using. Gibson sends them out set to about 60%. Dialing it all the way up to 10 does induce a little bit of buzzing into your signal chain. I have mine set to about 75-80%.
