Personally in the mix, I actually liked the sound of the Gibson better, but I think that has more to do with the Bill Lawrence pickup more than the instrument itself, as the extra high end brings more clarity to the pinch harmonics and the octaves. However, if I had to buy one over the other I'd buy the Solar over the Gibson because of playability and the fact that it stays in tune better than any Gibson ever could (even if it didn't have an Evertune it would still hold tune better because the headstock properly aligns all of the strings and the fact that it's a reverse headstock also means that the unwound strings are at equal tension as the wound strings). Good video, awesome tones!

That’s interesting you found the Gibson more clear. For me the solar was more clear. The Gibson sounded muddy/cloudy to me. Must be the differences in whatever we are listening through. That has a huge factor.

For reference: I have a 2016 Traditional High Performance Les Paul (where I swapped out the robo-tuners for locking Graphtech Ratio tuners), and while it's not a million pounds, and the neck heel access is better than a standard Les Paul, I have to wonder if Ola didn't give his singlecut an even better heel joint, etc etc.

@robdaslav3 жыл бұрын
Drop C is a dumb tuning. The strings are too loose to do any kind of articulate playing or soloing. It’s all just chug chug chug. Plus your amp and speakers can’t accurately reproduce those frequencies. You can also hear the pitch of the drums is bleeding into the guitar range. All the instruments are supposed to live in their little range of frequencies in order to sound good as a band. Comparing two guitars in drop C is like comparing two Death Metal singers. But hey what do I know? 😂
