Maybe I should have made the marking clearer in this video. Jamie’s scores are based on how much he personally liked the guitars & which he’d be most likely to use/play. The scores don’t reflect build quality, and it’s just Jamie’s opinion. And don’t forget - all those “you’ve won something” comments that look like they’re from Andertons are ALL a scam. Cheers, Lee 🤘

its not a secret.. modern guitars are just waaaaaaaaaaaay better to play.. all the modern ergonomics plus practical specs that just makes sense.. traditional guitar makers just want to stay in the 50s.. i think the industry should really just move on and make modern guitars the standard..

@@jojojojojojojojojojojojobIt's all about opinion and how a different person playing different genres enjoys the feel of a guitar. It's not as clear cut as you're pretending here. I play anything from Thrash metal to classic rock etc and I prefer the feel of my tele neck which is thicker than my Ibanez.

I think ESP Eclipse/EC1000 in Vintage black is the ultimate modern metal single cut. I'd go Eclipse, PRS, Schecter Solo rules the market modern single cut market in mid-tier and high end guitars. Not to mention ESP/Schecters come with traditional models with PAF style pickups or the option for something more modern like Fluences or whatever. I do hope Jackson comes out with a USA Monarch line if their Soloists do better than the recent MJ Dinkys.

@@bengribben569 The shorter scale length on the single cuts make them much more difficult to play than compared to an RG4 or Strat. The longer scale length of the double cuts require less string tension,making it easier to bend,slide,hammer on,pull off or vibrato.The term "suck" is comparitive.

@@275rambler I have 9-42s on my longer scale length strats and 10-46s on my single cut ESP and they feel about the same, for me getting rid of the issue of string tension. Id argue your point on 'longer scale length requiring less string tension' is a bit backwards as with a longer scale length and tighter strings wouldn't most things become heavier and more difficult? I do see your point about the shorter scale length being more difficult to play tho, especially if you play closer to the bridge.

I've said it before & I'll say it again, Chapman Pro series look and sound awesome, but I can't bring myself to buy one until they start putting inlays on the fretboard. Despite playing for 35 years, I still prefer a guitar with inlays. Perhaps it was just a bad experience with a Jackson PC1 when I was younger, but the fretboard just looks naked to me. Pity, otherwise I would get one in a heartbeat.

He NAILED IT, stating Ibanez, Jackson and ESP as the "metal" guitars. Those are also my top choices, so I am in agreement, considering the "Gibson" has been used for just about every genre, but the before mentioned exude the "metal" much better. If there is one other to mention is Schecter, to which also makes some kick-ass metal based guitars every bit as good or even better in some cases.

I tryed an Epiphone Les Paul back to back with an Eclipse back when I was on the market for one or the other. I went with the LTD. The best decision ever. The best bang for the buck in my book. The thing costed a bit less than the LP I tryed out, but played better, stayed in tune better, just felt better overall. The only drawback, but you could say that for the both of them, was the weight. Both are quite heavy guitars...

@Bacontruffle
@Bacontruffle 2 жыл бұрын
Judging from his reactions, the Chapman had a big advantage of being a lot closer to his normally preferred guitars I do feel like this also proved that out of the more traditional modern LP-shaped guitars, ESP still absolutely kills it. I only recently was finally able to hunt down an Eclipse myself (and E-II, sadly very little shops in the Netherlands carry ESP guitars) and I can see why a lot of bands started playing ESP's. They are just very very refined guitars. Perhaps a bit too much, I personally like it, but I can see how some people feel like they're a bit too much the same. The binding on the one I got really shows the craftsmanship though, I have tried a good few Gibsons and there's always some scuffedness about the binding, or some toolmarks on the fretboard. None of that whatsoever on the ESP's, absolute perfection, despite having actual binding. (the binding on mine has already started going ever so slightly cream-colored)

the Captain and Sir Shill!! it was already tuned down.. LOL I loved the way he did the normal licks on the ML-2, reached up and then down tuned it and got ugly with it.. very nice.. Jamie: I am very pleased i have never really played a chapman. Lee: I will send you one. you want?

Love that purple mirror marty friedman guitar, looks amazing! I bought a sl2 soloist in trans purple though cos it seemed like a better guitar. If I was gigging that purple mirror would look amazing on stage though!

The actual signature's on the truss rod cover so you can just swap that out. It is a gorgeous guitar

As a metal/hybrid guitarist who hates Gibson and is not keen on getting a Les Paul, this video's actually kind of useful for someone like me.

come on man, if you're planning to use your instrument as a weapon then you need a tele, at least that way you can still finish the gig

Forgot to mention Matt Heafy (Trivium) and Phil Collen (Def Leppard), and also Kirk Hammet, Randy Rhoads, even Eddy VH played some Les pauls. There's not that many metal single-cutters. But... There's some heavy hitters for sure.

The only reason Korea is more expensive is because south Korea is practically a western style country so they pay higher wages than China. Iv had an American strat and a squire classic vibe and the the vibe holds up no probs

🤣 I started chuckling when he scored the Chapman with an 8. You just know you're going to get flamed for that. Great video though, nice to see some more metal on the channel 🤘

That chapman was the best looking in my opinion and even through a video it looks like it would feel the best to hold and play. Ive never played one myself but it looks really nice and sounds pretty incredible as well.

Honestly I thought the Chapman and Sire sounded the best. Sire maybe isn’t best suited for metalcore, but still sound great for like any pre 95 metal I think.
