I just finished Harrow the Ninth so some of this is fresh in my memory. The pit/hell is called the stoma. I don't think it is said expressly but after several reveals about Nav surviving the 200 child massacre that birthed Harrow is due to her godly heritage. The Ortus/Gideon 1st/Pyrra bit was confusing. They said that repeatedly that the necromancer died and the cavalier Pyrra took over but the books never mention anything about the 2 having a special lyctor process. I definitely like Pyrra a lot, especially now that I am 50 pages or so into Nona the Ninth. I think that is one of the strongest parts of these books is the characters are all fantastic. Villain or protagonist, I enjoy them all and love many (Abigail, Magnus, Palamedes, Camilla, Ianthe, Dulcinea/Cynthrea and of course Nav and Harrow)
@ViKyne7 ай бұрын
they did mention gideon the first having a special lyctor process. In the river, Pyrra tells Gideon Nav that Gideon the first figured out how to compartmentalize Pyrra and not consume her soul, but after some damage had already been done.

I gave Gideon a second chance last week and it went from a 2.5 star read to a 4 star read, but I am honestly loving this series more and more the longer I think about it. I immediately dove into Harrow (doing the audiobooks) and just finished that one... my brain is fried 🤣This recap definitely cleared some things up for me, this was soooo helpful!! I am truly in awe of Tamsyn Muir's imagination and storytelling abilities, this series is bonkers in the best way possible. Also, I adore the characters, can I get my own Gideon, please?! Thanks for making this video, I hope Nona lives up to your expectations. I am probably gonna dive straight into that one, because I *need* to know where things are going... even if I only understand half of what's going on, lmao 🤣🤍

Brilliant summary & wonderful delivery. If I might make a suggestion however, the reverb in your audio is making hearing you a little taxing and not without effort. It would be a big improvement if you had a microphone closer to you. (KZbinrs like Caleb Pike, Curtis Judd, Podcastage, Tom Buck, Booth Junkie, et al... have heaps of content on this stuff.) Regardless, thankyou for the recap. Looking forward to the next book. 😊

@@Kristenisfullybookd Actually, according to Tamsyn Muir’s section at the end of the paperback of Gideon the Ninth titled, “A Little Explanation of Naming Systems,” which is followed by pronunciation guides for all of the sticky names, and the pronunciation guide in the back of Harrow, you’re pretty off. Someone told me that this section in Gideon was not in the hardcover (and maybe not the e-book… I read Nona as an e-book and there was no pronunciation guide), so I totally understand why you would pronounce names as your did, because I probably would, too (especially Augustine, which Tamsyn writes, “AWG-us-tin, not Awg-us-TEEN” … it was so hard to read it that way!). Also, it’s “Pal-AM-a-dees” (I can’t recall how you pronounced it exactly, but it is 4 syllables). I found the pronunciation guides both helpful and extremely annoying, because (especially with Augustine!) Tamsyn’s pronunciation of the names is just so different than what I would have guessed. Maybe in part because I’m American with a Mid-Atlantic accent and she has a New Zealand accent? The name that tripped me up the most and took forever for me to learn was Aiglamene, which is pronounced, “Eye-GLAM-en-ay”. I hope this is enlightening and doesn’t make you or anyone else feel bad. Just in case, I will here admit that I read the first THREE Harry Potter books thinking his friend’s name was pronounced “Her-ME-Oh-knee”. 🤦🏻♀

I was hoping for a little more of a recap regarding Jon’s agenda. What were the resurrection beasts? What was the original resurrection exactly? Why doesn’t God do it more? Why do the stars rely on his existence? What are the lichters doing when they cull those worlds? Seriously, Harrow killed off several entire eco systems and I had no idea why. And so on. Jon’s agenda is a huge part of why the world operates as it does. I listened on audio book and that part flew over my head.

I'm here to say thank you very much. I started reading Nona in English because I couldn’t find a translation into my native language, I got confused in this book... and only after your video I realized that Gideon and Harrow were translated terribly (official licensed translation!), they not only ruined the language and humor of the author, but they also terribly broke the plot by incorrectly translating or even throwing out some important parts. I'll order the original books and start over.

@IaMSpeaks2 жыл бұрын
She's possessed by The Body, someone said it in like the last 25% of Harrow the Ninth but I forgot who

@@IaMSpeaks yeah, Alecto's ghost is attached to the sword the same way pals is attached to the jaw bone, so Harrow is genuinely seeing her.
