Thanks 👍. I sold this clock back to the Roberts family. Gideon's Great, Great Granddaughter has it now. I delivered it and spent a couple hour talking to the family. It was great.

Thank you Laura. I am starting an In-Depth Series which highlights some important and interesting clocks. Most will be new videos, but some will be reworked videos from the past. As I learn more about making videos that people can actually stand to watch, I am taking a fresh look at my older videos. I am cutting out the long pauses between words, the droning monotone (if possible), and the unnecessary stories that cause most people to question my sanity. I hope the videos will be more interesting.

What kind of wood was used for the gears? Very interesting.

I cut the following description from a clock webpage. Oak is used for the plates, cherry for the wheels and mountain laurel is used in the construction of the roller pinions.

Do the pictures usually detect the area that they were made in that's on the face? It's a very beautiful clock 👍😄❤️

They often do but it they don't have to. Many of the reverse painted glass images were houses and farms around the town it was built. The obvious ones were the Pillar & Scroll clocks depicting a house with a pond and several trees in the background. Many are just nautical themes of a famous sailing ship or of famous places like Mount Vernon.

That is part of the reason I love clocks so much. They are silent witnesses to the most intimate, everyday events in human history. Thanks for watching.

Great videos! I love old clocks. I’m currently restoring one that’s missing the piece that holds the pendulum. It’s the last link between the movement and the pendulum. What is this piece called? So I can order it Any help will be appreciated.

What kind are you restoring? The pendulum hanger. I use Timesavers.com, Ronell Clocks, and Merritt's for parts. Send me a picture of what you are working on. I have thousands of parts. theclockguy12@gmail.com

It was at an auction in South Jersey. It looked terrible when I got it. Dirty, weight strings broken, pendulum wire bent like a clothes hanger. Lots of fun and very satisfying bringing this clock back to life.
