The Endela is a fantastic knife. I have Enduras and Delicas. I like them both, but most days I need a blade larger than the Delica but not as big as the Endura. The Endela has a little belly, which is nice. I own PM2s, the Para 3, Manix 2, and Shaman. The Endela rides my pocket most days.

Hey, dude: please judge knives on their inherent worth--not whether you think they add something new to the Spyderco line or are better than other knives in your collection. Why should I care if you prefer the Stretch to the Endela--the Stretch being ugly, as well as heavier and more expensive than the Endela? You condemned the Endela because the Stretch has a wider handle than the Endela and a finger choil which the Endela lacks; but then for the same reasons you should also condemn the Delica but you don't.
@BenKickert5 жыл бұрын
Why didn't they go with the wire clip? That would have given it a leg up with the FRN handles.

Because the wire clip is a piece of shit that snags and bends way too easily. Literally the only thing I hate about my Manix 2 LW

The stretch isn't as popular because it's too wide for some people's pockets, and a lot of people prefer a narrow tip for piercing. My hand feels cramped on a delica, and I don't like how much extra handle I have with the endura. This looks to be my sweet spot, I also prefer my folders to not have a finger choil, I don't need to choke up on a 3 to 4 inch blade. I like finger choils on my bigger fixed blade knives.
@kenmarapese90855 жыл бұрын
In an interview I heard Eric Glesser explain the Endela was a product of public demand for a folder in between the size of the Delica and the Endura. Spyderco listened to its customers. I'm not planning on owning one.

Really like the stretch and was interested when I saw the endela. To me the "x-factor" in deciding between this and the stretch is what feels more comfortable in your hand. A good example of this redundancy (for lack of a better term) in spyderco's line is the centofante. Yes, there are other options in the lineup which offer similar specs. But when you factor in aesthetic preferences and individual ergonomics, it makes sense to have the different options. As far as the skinny grip on the endela - a friend of mine has wide and beefy hands but relatively short fingers. The endela fits the width of his hand as well as allowing him to get his fingers around the handle comfortably. Edit - I think the overlap between different spyderco models is part of why they're so successful (besides the obvious "making excellent knives" detail). Say you try a friend's spyderco and generally like the knife, but there is some detail or another that bugs you. Odds are good that you can find a similar model in the lineup with the features you liked from the first knife yet is different enough that it lacks the annoyance of the other model.

For those who have not yet bought an Endura FFG like me and prefer the mid size handle / blade because of your 3.5 to 4 inch palm width then the Endela is a perfect fit for your hands!!! Got the Endela K390 n loving it !

Long time subscriber, I do agree with you a lot, but not on the Endela: I do own all 4 Spydercos you mentioned, for me the Endela is not necessarely inferior to the Stretch 2: In fact, exactly BECAUSE it does NOT feature a dedicated fingerchoil, your hand is placed closer to the actual edge in a "regular" grip, which I like. Plus, you can choke up on that Endela Ricasso almost like on a choil, no problem... Just my two cents, of course...

Comes down to preference. Delica is nice but slightly too small, Endura is too big and for the same dimensions, a PM2 is slightly too beefy for my liking so very excited to try the Endela out. Just waiting for the colored variants or a sprint to drop hopefully sooner rather than later.

I only own five spydercos at the moment: delica4 brown, Manix 2 S30V DLC, chaparral lw, Magnitude and this Endela I just got on Monday. I have big hands (xl/xxl) and the Endela fits me perfectly. Delica disappears into my palm and becomes a three finger knife. Endura is illegal to carry in CO (3.5in max). I’m quite pleased with it. Cuts like a laser. But then again I was always the perfect customer for this product.

I have a first generation Endura that I carried on duty for 20 years or so. I also have a Delica 4 which I think is a pretty perfect EDC among a number of other pretty perfect EDC's. Now I'm getting an Endela "Thin Blue Line" edition on sale to complete the family. Because it is a special edition and has a combo blade, it will add something new to the collection. I think I'm going to like it a lot.

Well, the Endela is still in the running for that single folding knife dedicated for the knife enthusiast backpacker, as my single lightweight quality lockback folder, that isn't the Benchmade Bugout or Griptilian. Kind'a still looking for that quality blade length acceptable in multiple states, a thru-backpacker might find useful and at least semi-legal on these trail systems. Appreciate your great channel and fine work !
@timbo43745 жыл бұрын
I tend to agree. The Delica was to small for me, the Endure to large, so this size would be perfect, were it not for the Stretch. I don't know why the Stretch isn't more popular. Great knife, and it has the forward choil that I love. I'm not a big fan of their frn, so I grabbed the brown G10 ZDP189 version. Since it's been discontinued now, you can get it for about $170..still a bit steep, but I much prefer G10, and the ZDP189 holds an edge for a very long time. If you don't want to pay the higher price tag for the G10 or the ZDP189, the regular version is still a great knife.

Variety is the spice of life. Like everyone else, the Delica was too small, the Endura just didn't feel right to me, though others love it and I lost my PM2, so the Endela K390 fit right in. Now I'm trying to actually use the Endela as a true pocket knife just like in the old days, and not ever trust a pocket clip again. I also lost a Mini Grip using the pocket clip along with a Kershaw or two over the years. After a week or so in the pocket, I'm actually wishing the Endela was just a tad shorter, but hey, it's all good as so many like to say today.

Same handle as endura boss. You are quite not correct. You put one over the other and you will see. The endura has a tiny bit more in the very back lengthwise. Otherwise all of the grooves perfectly match with Endela even having slightly more width in the back, if you are really looking. The blade is shorter and has got more of an upsweep in cutting edge compared to the dura. Makes killer feather sticks FYI.

For me Endela looks like it blows away Endura (which i have) and Delica. This one makes those two kind of unnecessary entities. If you want only one knife from vg10 japan series then Endela is the obvious choice - has the best all around size. Delica seems generally pointless to me - it is to small for "one knife" option, to small for defensive use, and it is less useful than let say Victorinox pocket knife. Endura is good knife, but funky big. Now i need to choose between Endela and Para 3 Lightweight :-)

Goldie locks i say this ones just right, i always thought that the delica was too small and the enduras not necessarily to big but kinda goofy looking like it was over stretched to narrow to be so long. Yes, it's almost twice the price but the British Racing Green FRN looks great and the ZDP -189 is quite an amazing super steel!!! I own the stretch as well in VTOKU steel but hate the profile of the knife overall, even if its got great ergos. Its just ugly as sin. Meanwhile my Endela in K390 is a much less exotic shape and actually is a really understated subtle profile. Cutting performance is the same on both. If both these knives came out at the same time it wouldn't be a question of "is it worth it" it would be a question of "what style do you prefer?" I just think the Endela is a better looking knife, and their performance is identical to me, choil (which I dont like anyway) or not. Love your channel. Keep it up. Just my .02
