they can be a real pain when they run at you like that, generally it means your casting too far, i learnt from the old Mulloway fishermen that when you are fishing a beach with not much surf and no real gutter (like the second beach you fished) to always fish at your feet, what happens is the bait push right up to the beach to try and get away from whats eating them and the predators come up with them. gotta keep at it though they are a tricky fish, once you think you have them down and figured out you will go on a dry spell and question everything you know ahaha
@martingoodef8117 ай бұрын
Line out, locked and loaded, what a beautiful day, Jew fish pick up your bait sometimes and run towards resistance, then turn and charge out to deeper water, don’t wind in the slack, wait for it to head out and when you feel the resistance taking up, set the hook, do not lock up the drag or it’ll break you off. It’s just knowing their behavior and you’ll be successful. Remember that the big ones are even cleverer. Thank you Guido, enjoyed a cuppa watching this today, lovely scenes ❤️❤️❤️

Well done, keep on casting! I catch Mulloway with #5 soft plastic paddletail baits, using a 10ft rod and 20lb braid, 50lb leader. They are ambush predators, and like structure, so go slow on the retrieve. Much more fun to be spinning for them than dropping baits.

Mate the old silver ghosts are a difficult thing to get from the beach, its the same here in south oz, i think we are spoilt with the murray mouth and coorong, ive rarely caught them on dead baits only if its unweighted! livies are the way to go, mullet small herring, one thing a mulloway cant pass up is a kicking livebait, also a long trace over 1 meter to 1.5m and two chem sharps snelled they tend to spit it out if they feel any unnatural weight, i leave one of the hooks free dangling as a stinger when using livies also a sinker on a short leader with a swivel as a running rig, its whats worked the best for me in the south after chasing them for 36 years, my best fish was 28kg 153cm
@comeatmebro32297 ай бұрын
we 100% are spoilt for Mully spots, Coorong, Murray Mouth, Lower Yorke Peninsula, Dog fence and Yalata are all awesome mulloway destinations. there is a reason why people from all over Australia travel to south Aus to target them

Tailor or beach worms the absolute best bait for consistent catches of Mulloway of the beaches , I have seen numerous times big mulloway chasing huge tailor schools when snorkelling beach reefs around Mandurah and you will get even more success with live beach worms being best bait of all for big silver Ghosts.. Great comments with some good tips. Any locals to talk to about jewies? I'm east state. Had great success once I spent enough time learning what to do. The best bait was a good-sized live tailor or mullet on two 10s with a running ball sinker so they didn't feel the weight when they picked it up. Unfortunately, they can get addictive once you start catching them. When you caught those 2 small ones what point was the tide as you caught 2 quickly. I always found it was on the change oftide.
@gidosfishingadventures7 ай бұрын
The tides were actually terrible and just mid way going out very slowly. But I still noted it down. I think large herring live or a salmon trout would be the go as we don’t get many tailor in this area
