What an awesome collection of chain saws. Now I know to ask if I have questions about chain saws. Thanks again.

Stihl saws are the best, dad was a farmer/logger in Italy in the 60s, that's was what he used, very reliable. Great collection!!!

I cut wood when I was 16 with a Homelite XL12 just like yours, only mine was red. Wow ! Brings back a lot of memories. I must have put a thousand hours on that saw. That was my income as a teenager. Cutting and selling firewood. Kids today don't know what they're missing........the reward of hard work, and accomplishment.
@alanroach15652 жыл бұрын
I did the same with a Remington saw. It was a lot cheaper than a homelite..............always wanted a homelite. Ended up being a part time arborist/climber (pays WAY MORE than a firewood cutter)

interesting to see where people come from and how you judge them not knowing what the history has been. There are so many good stories behind people and you will never know because we kind of lost sight to get in touch /connect with other people. Thanks for showing this ! I must say that your channel is kind of different in a positive way compared to many other channels.

Wow impressive! I don't know much about the Stihl. In 1996 when I was 15 my dad bought a new husquavarna 41. It's the saw I learned to cut with and still make my firewood every year with it. Great saw!

That’s an excellent collection. Those blue Homelites are amazing. I learned on a Super XL automatic at 11 years old. Then my first was a Homelite Super XL but in red. Excellent saw that cut hundreds of cords of wood. Then in the 90’s I bought an 028 Stihl that was great. Only issue was replacing the plastic oil pump gears. Otherwise I ran that till it wore out. I also picked up an 011 for trimming. Then got an 038 Magnum that was a beast. Such fantastic saws.

Stihls don't do much for me.................That ole Blue XL Homelite is where is at. We cut with 3 of them for years, probably why my thumb is so big. Still have the red Super XL my dad bought new, that was the Cadillac, had an automatic oiler. Don't use it much now other than to trim fence rows, but makes me smile every time I run it yet. Can hear it miles away on a cold clear day, you feel like you accomplished something running that all day in the woods at night!

The knowledge your father has! Another great video!! I have a 19 year old Stihl farm boss, has cut many, many tri-axle loads of wood and still running strong!! Have a great day and look forward to your next video!!

Ran Homelites, red and blue, when I was young. The red XL snorted. Bought a new, only new saw ever, Husqvarna 455 Rancher in about 2007. An incredibly dependable saw with plenty of power. Way better than the Homelites. Less than $500. Cut between 4 and 6 cord of firewood every year and still going strong. Got an old Jonsered I'd sell ya!

Keep those videos coming they are very informative 👍

When I first decided I was going to heat with wood about 12 or 13 years ago I bought a 290 and then a 180 for my dad who was in his 70s but wanted to help me cut. When buying the saws the dealer told me that was the first year where they zero was placed at the end of the number. My dad is gone now but I stuff use both saws with no problems.

I ran a 056 for the longest time cutting firewood than I bought a farmboss in 07 and cut probably 100 dumb truck loads of wood since and it's still going but I'm taking it easy on it this year I picked up a 550 homelite in brand new shape for 40 bucks at a yard sale best deal of my life

Growing up in the late 60's we had a Sears with an 18" bar and the plunge oiler. Those things had so much vibration and heavy as all get out. Then Dad pickup up a David Bradley with a 36" bar. What a beast. I prefer the new Stihl, light and comfortable and the handles are dampened.

I really like the chainsaw rack. That is really neat. Up in the Northwoods we cut a lot of wood for heat like you do. We peel popple in the spring yet too. (Might not do that much longer but will still log) My grandfather had Homelite saws like that Zip, still does the job for us. Otherwise Dad used a 70E Jonsereds with a 26 inch bar and a Poulan 25 with an 18 inch bar for limbing. Really neat that your Dad does carving. I always thought that is such artwork. I would love to watch that. Does he do that at the county fair??

I have a 250 I've had for about 5 years now and for their size they are pretty decent little saws. I do just trimming around my property so it's my only saw but I grew up on a farm where we had to trim up fence line every so often etc and all we had back then was Stihls. As you know keep oil in them, grease the end of the bar (if applicable), run good gas in them, and don't leave them out and they will last you a lifetime.

Y’all followed me on Instagram, so I thought I’d come and give a look. I picked this video as I’m kind of known for me saw collection amongst my friends, but you’ve put me to shame here. Not exactly sure of all my numbers. I have 3 antiques and then my Stihl saws. My first was an 039 Farm Boss from sometime mid 80’s I believe. Then in the last 15 or so years picked up a 650. Then I have the Combi system and one of the adapters is a mini saw head and I’ve a double extension for it. Then my last was an arborists saw. Don’t remember the number on it Kind of busy with things but will give your channel a bit of a look. I like what I see so far.

I have Husqvarna saws, mostly because the Husqvarna dealer is 8miles away, and the Stihl dealer is 20 miles away. Both are great saws and hold their value well. A couple good saws are a requirement, not an option when it comes to farming.

Cool table and quite a collection. We have someone in our small residential area who does figure carvings (like an eagle) on the top portion of a 6-10 foot tree trunk, so the trunk acts as a pedestal. I imagine you have seen ones like them (loved the bear). You are very talented. Good video.

I really enjoyed your Dad talking about his collection of chainsaws. I wish you guy’s could come and visit us here in Somerset County , Pennsylvania. Like wise, I like to come an visit you fellows up in Wisconsin. The area where you live is so much like Somerset County PA. Coming up in September we have two great festival, the 70 annual Farmers & Threshermens Jubilee and Mt. Craft Days. One of the events I love to watch is the fellows doing wood carving with their chainsaws. Do you fellows have any festival where you live? I’d love to watch you dad in action carving wood. Although I’m not a farmer, I have a few farm friends and like to get out in the fall to see them during harvest time. How sweet the smell of hay drying in the field or corn silage fresh off the field.

Lots of comments about Stihl being good/great saws....must be a different bunch of Stihl saws than the ones I've been around. Cant say I'm a fan. The local dealer in our area sells a few brands of saws. He said he couldn't sell a Stihl around here if his life depended on it. Funny how different areas have different likes and tastes.
