From what I've heard for those who keep mentioning tech 2's. If you don't have the delphi navigation unit oem, your answer and decline buttons never worked anyway as its an add on. With the oem Nav you could use a tech 2 to enable that function. With after market headunits I believe these buttons still won't work unless you had that oem nav unit with functions enabled already. The volume buttons and track/station change buttons will work as normal.

For the newer Xtron units: The "AMP" wire is not recogniazable as such. Actually it's the blue/white wire with the transparent plug. Took me quite some time to track it down in thecomments. So now it's a bit more at the top. No connection to the 12V means NO SOUND.

Many thanks, Richard, this is really useful as I have just purchased a new Double DIN kit from Xtrons and I have the newer Connects2 loom with the blue and white wire and transparent plug. So please excuse my ignorance, dare I say naivety, are you able to confirm where this needs to connect in order to achieve the 12V connection? Is it this wire that needs to be connected to the cigarette lighter wiring and if so, which one? Or does it connect to the blue AMP-CON wire on the other Xtrons harness? I'm struggling to find the illumination wire, too, or what the ANT and BACK wires are for on the ISO... Many thanks in advance.

I really appreciate your reviews. I could use some advice: just installed a Camacho 7" Android Head unit into my car. It is cheap and cheerful but I know I will want something better soon since I like generally what the hu can do. My car is a classic 1991 Mercedes 300sl and requires a single din radio. The screen popping up at 7" hides the ac controls which is ok. A larger fixed screen unit would have to go down so it only covers effectively nothing (it can start at the top of the single din and go downwards if a 10-11" would work So what unit(s) would you recommend with a good and responsive screen. The car is a Cabrio with JBL aftermarket speakers but fidelity is not a real issue only clarity,screen quality and responsiveness. I would rather not spend a fortune so what do you think offers the quality and price in a single din? Thanks

I have the exact same problem. I am using a different screen but the issue should remain the same for you nevertheless. We can't lower the output noise from the andriod unit as far as I know. Hopefully there is a gain control on the other amplifier however, I will look into that.

Good question, I did this because I was too lazy to run the illumination cable to the headlight switch. I drive my Saab with the lights always on anyway, so this doesn't make any difference to me. @@SaabUnleashed Thanks very much, basically looking for something that will have both android auto and carplay and preferably a knob, or buttons at the very least. Also looking for longevity, ie the software/os on the android unit doesn't slow down in a couple of years.
@SaabUnleashed3 жыл бұрын
@@warhog93 Well the fact that you're looking for Android Auto and Carplay would suggest that an Android head unit is the wrong decision for you. Android Auto and Carplay basically supercede the main head unit built in operating system, effectively giving you remote access to your phone and the compatible apps installed on it. This has the added benefit of being just as quick as your phone, as all the apps are still running from the phone, not from installations on the actual head unit. That means you won't actually be using the built in Android OS, which renders it pointless. As a result of the above, these head units don't have to have high spec hardware. And that means that they should be cheaper - but they're not. If you're interested, I'm going to be releasing a video very soon on an ATOTO unit (Non-Android) which has the physical buttons, Android Auto and Apple Carplay and is a fraction of the cost of that Sony. This one - amzn.to/2SBN9Jt . I'll be comparing it to a high end Kenwood unit of equal specification to your Sony. I don't know how that will turn out yet as it's getting delivered tomorrow, but I'm hoping it's a winner :)

I had a few questions about things I've been reading online, the first one being that replacing the radio causes the warning sounds/chime noises to stop working, is there no way of avoiding it or does using the canbus decoder solve that? The other thing was that apparently the Bose speakers draw a lot of power and can cause heat damage to the radio, is that a real problem? I don't particularly want to replace all the speakers.
@SaabUnleashed3 жыл бұрын
Loss of chimes is something that happens if you incorrectly install a radio in the pre-facelift 9-3 (2003-2006). 2007+ doesn't have this issue. The canbus decoder is for the steering controls. And no, the speakers won't cause damage to the radio, they can only draw what the radio has to offer power wise

Im sorry did I miss something here? What's the purpose for connecting the cigarette lighter to anything. Was that wire already in there or did you create a wire that routed to that location? Where did you end up connecting it to?
@SaabUnleashed4 жыл бұрын
I ran the wire. This wire represents the ignition live so it tells the head unit when you've turned the car on. It needs to be connected to the red wire coming from the head unit. Also, as Saabs have amps, the blue and white wire needs to be connected so it turns on with the head unit. I also connected the illumination wire so the unit buttons light up when it's on too

Hey Chris. XWD has the same dash I believe, so yes you can fit this or any double din unit. No tech 2 is required. Sorry I missed this question. Yes, it sounds fine with the stock system. These Android units by default have equalisers which I have found can get the best sound out of stock systems. Hi stuart, Did you have any issues with the head unit sitting flush with the bezel?. I have bought the recomended kits and xtron head unit but it sits an inch into the bezel any advise would be great thanks.
@SaabUnleashed3 жыл бұрын
I didn't, but it's possible the bezel supplied with the kit, or the Xtrons model design has changed over time. If it's sitting an inch out, that would suggest that bezel in the kit has changed to basic double din size, not allowing for oversized units like the Xtrons. Sorry about that. You have two options. Either dremel the existing bezel you have to allow for the wider Xtrons model to slip in all the way, OR get this www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251519577721?epid=1604448555&hash=item3a8fbc2e79:g:74UAAOSwxxVaw4xo. @SaabUnleashed4 жыл бұрын
So the point of this radio is to be seperate from your phone. On your iPhone, you would connect via Bluetooth so you can make and recieve calls through the head unit. You would install your navigation app, such as Waze, and music app, such as Spotify directly onto the radio. If you don't like the Android platform, that's also fine because you can install a dashboard to give a more stock feel to the head unit like I briefly show in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/jom2Z2tqr5eKf68
