Giga Center the only arcade in Germany Cologne

Due to arcade games classified the same as gambling, Germany is very thin on the ground for arcades. This is located at Hohenzollern Ring 7-11, Cologne.

The coolest place around used to be Harlequin in Augsburg. You pay a tiny entrance fee and then you can stay as long as you want, play about 200 arcade machines at no further cost. None of them were new though, all from 80es till late 90ies, discarded from other arcades, which unfortunately became gambling dens. Now it's a bowling place, was converted maybe 5 or 7 years ago.

We have several arcades now with rhythm games, so things are looking way better. I'll speak mostly my knowledge as a PIU player based in Berlin (there could be more stuff that I am not aware of). In Berlin: -Gamestate (PIU XX and DDR A20). -Lane7 (PIU Phoenix). -Electric Social (DDR A20+). -Lasergame Schóneweide (DDR Supernova, PIU Prime, Taiko). -Lasergame Charlotenburg (Groove Coaster). Then there are some other locations with PIU -Gamestate in Oberhausen (PIU XX). -Game Night in Kerpen (PIU XX). -YouPlay in Recklinghausen (PIU Prime) Another notable mention is HI-Score in Hannover. Although they don't have PIU, the do have many rhythm games, including StepmaniaX, Dance Rush Stardom, Sound Voltex, MaiMai, Gitadora, Chunithm and Wacca.

it's really sad that theres only a handful of arcades in germany that don't include them gambling machines. i wish there were a few more suitable for teens and kids

Those don't exist here in Germany. In fact, There are no real casinos here, due to some weird regulations that existed during the rise of arcades in the western hemisphere. Because of that, all of the cabinets were put in Casinos, where people have no interest in video games and only want to gamble. Now, even after those rules have been gone for ages, every single cabinet is treated like a gambling machine. In fact, Giga Center's website lists the games in the casino tab. I've lived here for most of my life, and i've only ever met 2 people who even knew what an arcade was.

***** GamesCom? I haven't been since 2013 to be honest - Heard the Tekken cab, Pump & DDR cabs have gone. It's still there though.

toby7ten Unfortunately, no. I'm visiting in November. Arcades are just so incredibly hard to come by. I try to visit them whenever there is one in town.
