That really old crashed car at the beginning must have been an unexpected discovery. The scenery and train footage is pretty nice. Excellent job! By the way, Happy Canada Day 2024 to you and your family!

Just to reiterate than CN/CPKC loads (west bounds) are run on the CN track to Matsqui/Mission and vice versa for the empties (east bounds) on the CPKC side. That's because the CPKC track can be more like a roller coaster. They saved big time on power requirements and both RRs could now run longer trains. I was the Con on CP's first test. The train was essentially 2 empty grain trains 13,400 feet long. Two engines on the head end and two in the middle. At Kamloops they just split and ran separate. Crew consist, 1 Con & 1 Eng along with a one armed supervisor. We did not set the brake until our crew train location. The train was long enough the engineer could control it with dynamic brake only. A non stop run as everyone else was in a siding for us.

Great video, great shot. Land slide detectors exist in Sweden due to old slides happening once. Driving trains if there's been no land slide sounds like risky for the train crew, and the company. Many US railroads look like this, dangerous.

It can be down right scary. I worked for CP on the other side of the river and we could see a lot of CN track. After one particularly nasty storm a tunnel with an additional slide shed at one portal had a bolder half the size of a locomotive sitting on top of it. I'm guessing that the only thing that saved it from collapse was the loose debris from previous small slides. Took them a couple of weeks to clear it off.

Possibly Ferromex. I believe that they are not allowed to lead trains in the United States. I don't know know about Canada, but I suspect that is the case there.
@TracksideTyson

I heard the reasoning of them not leading was because the KCSM units had Spanish context inside the locomotives.

Not to sure, one car looks to be an early 60's Chevy sedan, second car in the video is possibly a 1950's car from another Country, they've been down there for quite awhile! This is near Hells Gate. Thanks Carol for watching!

The Morris (Oxford) wreck (the black car) would be from the early 50's - they were a well-built and popular family 4-door sedan. I wonder how it got to its final resting place?

Cool to see the slide detectors close up, a while back I questioned if those were catenary poles and you straightened me out. Nice to see the old wreckage from way back, I think you're part mountain goat! Love your train videos and how you include the beauty of the Canadian Rockies.
