One day I turned on TV to the late night movie channel and I watched this scene. although I haven’t watched all part of movies, it was one of the so impressive scene only I can remember from my childhood. Often I wondered which movie scene this was, but I couldn't find out. Finally KZbin algorithm take me here. It feels like I find my puzzle piece. what an amazing experience?

I used to be addicted to Ray Harryhausen's creations, like the Gorgon, the skeletons, the Cyclops and the creatures in this film. So much so, I actually wrote to ITV at the time to ask them how I would go about learning how to get into the trade of creating those creatures and stop/start animation. I got a huge brown envelope back, written by the director of ITV - who also produced a show called 'Clapperboard' at the time. 'Clapperboard' was a show that used to come on ITV, back in the '70s, showing all the latest films that were out at the time. Anyway, inside the envelope were stilled black and white photographs of Jason and the Argonauts. There was also a huge poster of the film, CLASH OF THE TITANS [the original film]. The letter said that I had to study art, and then learn about textures of things like skin, scales, wood, stone, flesh, water and so on. Alas, however, my life went in a different direction.

This is the best scene in my all time favorite movie about Greek Mythology which I saw with my family at the Staten Island Drive-In Movie Theater in 1963; but it doesn't show what Jason said before this scene to make him say, "In time all men will learn to do without them!" Who is the "them" that Jason is talking about? It's the gods. Jason is cursing his fate given to him from the gods. Also, the dialogue after this scene between Zeus and his wife Hera where Hera tells Zeus that the gods would cease to exist if mortals didn't believe in them. That is the best dialogue in this movie and should be included in this scene to make it complete; otherwise I think that this is deliberate censorship of what the original makers of this great film intended.

This scene was dominated by the suspense of Jason and his companions crossing the choppy archipelago and the appearance of a genie from the depths of the sea to help Jason and his companions

Is not a Genie, is Posseidon, the god of the sea.

Genie is an Arabian mythology thing, this is based on Greek mythology, he is Poseidon, the god of sea

I know that he is the god of the sea among the ancient Greeks, but according to what we saw in this movie, he is a huge and gigantic being, and the being is huge and we call him the giant. The story takes place thousands of years before Christ

I was very sad to read years later that Todd Armstrong (Jason) took his own life. One of my favorite movies.

interesting to see in 1963 they represented Gods with no muscles in 2020 probably they could use a bodybuilder for this scene. After saying this, we can only think how distorted be became

Gods were represented with athletic physiques during ancient greece. Our modern idealized versions are more mythologically accurate than these older versions.

please, check the greek statues of Zeus, Hades and Poseidon, but first, some spoilers...... the greek invented almost all the bodybuilding techniques we know today. Just a hint

A lot of Ancient Greek statues and art show extremely athletic and muscular physiques, so it's kind of fill circle that we're coming back to that.
