Nah, I think that he was actually "doing the do" with Aphrodite when Athena came. 😅He had to hide quickly so they won't get caught (Aphrodite IS married after all, even though everybody knows she's cheating on Hephaestus). But then Ares heard what was happening and as soon as he put some clothes on, he came in to argue. 😂 Alternatively, he was on his way to Aphrodite for the purposes of "doing the do" when he heard Athena's voice and realised what was happening, and stepped in. Either way... I'm pretty sure he's there because of Aphrodite, nothing to do with Athena or Odeseus. 😉

I love how Aphrodite was the hardest to convince so far and also that she was depicted so well because as much as people think love gods are weak because love isn’t generally thought of as a particularly physically powerful domain yo Aphrodite is scarily powerful and one of the biggest menaces in Greek mythology to compare yourself to her is basically rigged to get you cursed.

People put Aphrodite's blame in the war as high as Athena and Hera's. But, didn't Aphrodite technically win fairly ? The three each offered the guy something. But being the goddess of love, it's her job to know what goes in a person's heart, so of course she offered the best option to a simple, stable man like him, which was love. And by the myth, Eros's arrows only seem to amplify what you already feel. But most importantly, while maybe not for the most selfless reasons, she did defend Troy. Doesn't she deserve to have some slack cut ? Of all myths I saw, she seems to be tamer compared to other gods. Not Hades tamed, but still tamed.

Well, Athena, being logic itself, is supposed to be uncapable of feeling love. So for her to use friendship as an argument, it means she's learning to feel love, which surprises Aphrodite, because she's Athena's opposite just as much as Ares, if not more.

Can I just say I LOVE how you potrayed Aphrodite's emotion? It feels so HER. Emotional, but also detached, dignified but didn't shy away from being a little smug. This is the most perfect portrayal and translation to me. The earlier part of "Your little high and mighty" is perfect amount of mockery and disdain. Then "Odysseus claims to love his mother, but let her die of a broken heart"??? I just love you cover most of Aphrodite with a mirror that displayed Odysseus's mother, at this scene, the feeling goddess of love takes over and push forward emotions rather than her vanity. Just the appearance of Aphrodite stepping back to let a motherly grief take a stage is just so YES! Other animatics always show Aphrodite's EMOTION by showing her angry expressions or even her body, just focused on her, but in this animatic, Aphrodite makes us focus on Odysseus' mother. Don't get me wrong, the idea of Aphrodite making it about her is not crazy, but for this song, it DIDN’T feel like she was making it about her as the proceeding lyric said: "More like busy spiting the Cyclops" she swatted aside Athena's argument with a sneering tone, the fact she did it after brushing her hair without concern of Athena's counter argument, she showed her appropriate detachment and lack of emotion here, not appealing to Athena's attempt to persuade her(The goddess of beauty won't listen to your excuses, Athena, she has to groom herself :p) "Let him feel the *pain that his **_mother felt_** and rot."* THIS this lyrics. Aphrodite brings up his mom again, that means Aphrodite is GENUINELY p1ssed, so it's impossible for her to make it about herself, which further boosts your earlier scene with Aphrodite placing herself BEHIND the mirror with Ody's mother portrayal. And I love you use the mirror again to portray Ody. Aphrodite's expression here is also appropriate. Not too much, not too little. She looks decently upset, annoyed, indignant, but not too angry. Like witnessing a death of a pest. Let it *rot.* It makes sense for her to have this royal-like gait. She's still a goddess, although she felt indignant of Ody's mom's death and she dislikes Odysseus due to it, she didn't get too heated about it. Because in the end, they're mortals, and she's a goddess. She's not smug either because SHE DOES feel genuine dissatisfaction to Odysseus, not just trying to mess with Athena.

One thing that I love about representing the gods is that everyone understands the task on making Ares and Athena look alike due to they are both gods of the war, Ares helmet looks like it blocks his sight and protects him from the hit and Athena is more open allowing her to look at the battlefield, shows how Ares is just fight until it's done and Athena always looks for a better tactic or a better way to end things, but it doesn't mean they are enemies, just rivals inside a warriors mind and heart

Meh, this mainly started because a certain wind god fu ked him over. I'd say his only mistake was attempting to show mercy in a scenario where it wouldn't count for anything. When a God turns you into a weapon and makes you kill an infant, you stop wanting to kill things after a while. 🙄 That being said, I doubt it would've mattered had he revealed his name or not. How long do you think it would take a god of the sea to find a bunch of sailors?

Hardly. I'd have to respectfully disagree. I'd say the only wrong thing Ody did was throw an infant from the wall and even then? I mean it's ancent Greece and he was a Kong fighting for his country coaxed by the gods. Times were different. He's not the only soilder killing infants back then. Spartans where worse. As for the cyclops yes it was the name drop that called positions Wrath BUT it was less spite and more of a lesson he was trying to teach the cyclops. We lead with peace while you fed your inner beast so remember me next time you dare choose not to spare. It was a lesson. As for what happened to them with Posidon? That was not Odys fault that was Eurlyicus. (Spelling yikes) he opened the wind bag sending the Army to the land of the giants on Posidons Turf. They would have been able to make it home and on land easily with Aeoles's help and never even encountered Posidon otherwise. Everything bad that happens is either his crews fault, the gods, or monsters fault.

He was a man who was nearly broken, and Athena only caught it after 10 years. I'm not saying the encounter with Posidon was his fault, I'm saying that him sparring the cyclops would've led to Posidon seeking him out regardless. Name drop or not. Hence, why I said this was his only mistake. I can't imagine that it would take long if Posidon decided to play detective 🤷. Though, that's mainly coming from a perspective of common sense. Nah, I'm still blaming the wind god. She had her damn henchman go, "It's treasure," so I say she needs to go meet Kratos. 🤣

Considering how often Ares is depicted as a jobber, some people have been wondering what Aphrodite saw in him. This. This is what she saw. The god of the common soldiery; bloodthirsty but not without cause. He's basically the Hellenistic patron deity of all those dads who [unplug from Minecraft] people who hurt their kids. Course it also helps they both have shared interests since Aphrodite in her original depiction WAS a goddess of war (though in places like Athens, this was split off into Athena).

Fun fact about Ares is that he was actually really disliked by Zeus and everyone else because he represented the bloody and bad parts of war. While Zeus and Athena both represented strategy, intelligence, and meaning, his was just bloodshed and was often portrayed as super childish because of it. One time during the Trojan war, he tried to attack Diomedes, but with the help of Athena, Diomedes badly wounded Ares and instead of standing his ground, he ran up to Zeus and asked him for help like a toddler. Zeus said that he was so embarrassed that he would have banished him from Olympus if he wasn't his son lol

One thing I don’t think anyone else has mentioned is that the final crying image before Athena snaps back at Ares is intentionally left vague. It could be current Telemachus OR Odysseus at Telemachus’ age, and both of those interpretations upset her. THAT, more than anything else, shows that she loves them both very much, or she wouldn’t be doing this. Odysseus is already suffering, and Athena can’t stand the thought of Telemachus suffering too, nor can she bear the thought of the sweet, friendly little Odysseus she first met going through what he is suffering right now. In addition, while Ares was trying to show Odysseus and Telemachus’ weakness by showing tears, all it does is make Athena, someone who loves them both, even more determined to save them. Because it doesn’t matter if Athena started this journey looking for friends. Innocent and friendly kindness is practically a part of Telemachus and Odysseus’ DNA. She was doomed to love them from the very start. She didn’t need to go looking for her friends. Friends found and helped her themselves, and now it is her turn to return the favor and help them. I could talk for *hours* about Athena’s friendship with the two of them and the parallels between Telemachus and Odysseus in regards to Athena’s feelings.

Athena's relationship seems (in Epic) more like Odysseus is her perfect student that she had high hopes for. I think she sees Telemachus more as a second chance at the ultimate warrior of the mind. In the actual Iliad or Odyssey (I read it a while ago) Athena seems more like a reliable family friend than a family member or even teacher. She helps Telemachus out several times and acts as almost a second mom. In any case, Athena does love Odysseus' family in some way or she wouldn't go through all this trouble to help all of them out.

Everyone’s talking about how great Aphrodite and Ares’ designs are and I have to agree! They look amazing and I love the slashes on Ares’ armor representing the violence and war along with the rose in Aphrodite’s hair which commonly represents love (commonly only because yellow roses signify friendship)! However I really really liked how Aphrodite’s bed was a sea shell (she sells sea shells by the sea shore, try saying THAT 5 times as fast lol) since in the mythology of her creation, she was born on land in a scallop shell from the ocean! It’s such a nice little thing and I really really liked the add-in of it. The creator did such a good job and the facial expressions were immaculate. I do love me some good greek mythology animations to hyperfixate on lol.

Ive noticed in terms of design that 1. Obviously Aphrodite is smaller than them. And 2. Yes, Ares helmet makes him look angry but what about the actual SHAPE of them?? Athena's helmet has an owl shape, big eye holes with a thin sharp beak, while Ares helmet has a bull/ox shape, the eyes being where the horns would be.

I love how the Animatic takes on the color of whoever controls the song at that point. At the start, Aphrodite is the next one she needs to convince and so Aphrodite is controlling the song and singing. Until Athena uses her Quick Thought and then the animatic becomes blue to symbolize that. Until Ares bursts into the song, and it becomes Red. Ares has come in and is shutting down Athena, until Athena takes the song back, turning it blue, and they get convinced.

I love how the colors reflect who is in control in the moment, it from pink for Aphrodite to grayish for Athena trying to convince her, then red for the powerful influence Ares has, and than a complete turn around to blue to show how Athena flipped the control around. Many artists don’t utilize color for stuff like that, so I applaud you. There is so much other good things a I could, but I’ve seen others talk about it already
