Between 80-90s taxation rates were too high, I sacrificed my overtime because I could not have enough time for family & moreover it was not easy job like sitting in AC room!! I am shouting for many years - Indian tax structure is too much complicated in the world. Now compare Resident Indian and NRI, they both have to pay TDS (in absence of 15GH), but according to Bank's directive, residents' 'TDS is 10% and NRI's TDS is whopping 30%. And that is not all; When you get Refund, that amount is considered as your Income for the next Year. This madness you cannot see anywhere in the World. Indian Economic Scientists (while they get prizes) and Chartered Accountants are tight lipped, they cannot talk. Many times I wonder why not any government make Agriculture income atleast above 50 lakh income taxable starting atleast 1% tax and put them in different category coz they are rich farmers compare to poor farmers. Then utilizes same money for poor farmers. I know you mentioned not possible due vote polictics but people who are honestly paying tax will get some justice and slowly reduce tax slab burden on them. I am optimistic one day it will happen soon.

This definition needs to be revised by adding number of jobless living together in a closed community called family and then calculate total earning of a family to define their economical class. In our generation we have at least 4 people in a family so if total earning for 4 people is 360000 per month after tax deduction then they are middle class family. That means a family of 4 must make almost 5 lacs a month to stay middle class according to definition of whatever national institution they have called themselves.😢

I'm a college student, my salary from part time job is 15K but employer deducts 10% of stating TDS though I get that money back by filing ITR but its really shocking for me. Filing ITR is very tedious process. I'm literally thinking of to migrate Dubai or Western countries 😢

Why TDS on 15k income? As per the rule your income doesn't qualify for TDS deduction. Ask your employer to give the proof for TDS submission under your name.

50 lakhs is still too much. A salaried middle class man even if he earns 1 lakh per month,(12 lakhs annually )then also he his happy with his income then why not these farmers? At least 25 Lakhs should be the minimum criteria. Or 30 Lakhs.
