The older generation also fail to say that the main reason they weren't joining forces is because the bread wasn't like it is today. Now players can afford to leave tens of millions on the table to play wherever they wanted to play. Back then, the budgets weren't big enough without someone taking short change and they weren't going for that. Besides maybe Reggie Miller & I think Charles Barkley, most of them won't admit it. Competing is just a "convenient" argument to make but it was for financial reasons. It's the reasons the Bulls ended the way it did lol

@@11bornrichnah, there was actual competitiveness then
@11bornrich15 күн бұрын
@@spaceghostp6672 I'm not denying that they were competitive, I'm saying that's a complete separate topic. Today, players are also competitive, guys want to be the best and win in both eras. I'm addressing the "Joining forces" part, "competitiveness" is just a convenient excuse. The truth is it was about money. Today guys can leave tens of millions on the table because they get paid so much, back then there was no way to get the best players on the same team. If Lakers told magic we can get Bird do you think he'd say no? If MJ could get kareem you don't think he would've approved the move? Let's be real. The cap space & amount players get paid today allows for these moves. In fact, you could flip it and make the argument that if guys didn't want to win they wouldn't join forces. For you to sacrifice millions to win that actually says more about your drive to win. If you ask any player from any era if they'd rather possibly lose because it's so difficult or completely dominate their era, no player will ever say they'd rather "compete" and maybe lose lol People want to win.

Are you just a moron or does your memory not reach farther back than the cereal you had for breakfast this morning? Pre-Decision Cavs were a 66 and 61 win team. Go ahead and read that sentence again.......let it sink in, then tell me again that team was trash. If you still think that, well you really are a moron. That 66 win team swept their first two playoff opponents on top of it. Which means they went into the Orlando series with a 74-16 record. In the first five games of that conference finals, LeBron was averaging 42ppg while Dwight was averaging 23ppg. In game 6 LeBron scored 25 points and Dwight scored 40 points. He literally turned the tables on him to come up clutch and win the series for his team, taking them to the NBA Finals. LeBron choked. Hard. In 2010 the Cavs won 61 games, again that's a DAMN GOOD TEAM. Old man Shaq was still good enough to be an All Star and average 18/8 the season prior to teaming up with LeBron and, statistically, wasn't _that_ much worse than the player who helped DWade win a championship a couple of years prior. But they also had a career 20ppg scorer, multiple all star in Jamison, another multiple all star in Big Z, one more all star in Mo and a player in Anderson V who would make the All Defensive team _that_ season. It was literally a team FULL of All Star quality players and two HOFers. But again, in a crucial elimination game in the Celtics series LeBron CHOKED, shooting just 38% from the field. He also famously quit on his team in the second half of that game, basically just gave up. It was a pathetic, embarrassing display. So stop making up garbage narratives to make your hero look better than he deserves. He was not only a choker, a quitter but he was also a coward who ran to Miami with his tail between his legs because he clearly didn't have what it takes to step up in the biggest moments.

The truth is he refused to let the system cheat him. Some of y'all are really die hard Bron fans, or new to the NBA. Kobe LeBron, Wade were undoubtedly the top 3 nb players at the time. 2/3 team up and add a top 5 powerforward in Bosh. All in their primes and team up. That never was a thing to do that in your prime. Just look at how terrible the east was after, you can't justify that and say you're the best player, .That sh*t ain't cool. this why some people will never rate him as great as he is. KG, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, nobody looked at them as top 10 players. Y'all try to erase this history but real ball fans know that was wack.
@TeoC30004 ай бұрын
So real quick, do you work for somebody? I'm asking because all the players are just employees. If the answer to that question is yes, I'll ask a follow up. If you're the manager of the business remember it's not your business you're the manager and the ownership is not giving you what you need to succeed, and has not shown the willingness to do so are you staying with the company in hopes that something good will happen or are you going to do whatever you can to set yourself up to succeed? Most people are picking the second scenario. Sports is just business, entertainment business nothing more nothing less, LeBron was in the business of succeeding at the highest level so rather than wait for the ownership to give him the tools they obviously weren't going to give him at the time he went and got the tools himself.

More foolishness from ex-players. I thought they despise the fact the ‘white man’ could dictate their legacies? Then, when a dude who is drafted to the worst team in basketball, who provided him with Mo Williams in 7 years of play and takes things into his own hands, he has broken some sacred NBA rule. A guy like Kobe should be praised for forcing his way to a team with a winning history, elite management and recent success, but LBJ should just rot in Cleveland his whole career, succumbing to the fate of being drafted by a bad team. In 1997 when Barkley, Hakeem and Drexler teamed up, they were all All-NBA players the year before. To say they weren’t in their prime is crazy. Some primes end at 22, others at 40.

@@LeetraviusMcKay-q6m Yep, he did. He signed a 50 million dollar shoe deal in High School. In order to make sure he had a marketing push, he only worked out for large market teams. He told others he wouldn’t try out for them and if drafted by them he’d play in Europe. His own agent at the time Arm Tellem is on record saying him playing in Charlotte is an impossibility. Of course LA and West wanted Kobe, doesn’t change he did everything in his power to make it happen. LBJ meanwhile went to the worst franchise in basketball, and stayed for 7 years. Kobe demanded a trade 3 separate times from LA, including after winning a title and after only 2 years of mediocre help. Try again, go back and review your history.

McCant’s recognizes Kobe was much better than Lebron. McCant’s was considered a great defense player, and Kobe still avg 37 ppg against him. If you consider prolonged excellence, I can understand why people may rate Lebron the best. But in their prime years, Jordan and Kobe were much better than Lebron. Scottie Pippen played with Jordan, and against Kobe, and he even admitted that Kobe was more talented than even MJ. Kobe had zero weaknesses in his game. The reason I rate him over MJ is that Kobe was a better shooter. MJ never developed a 3 point shot. MJ has always respected Kobe, even spoke at his funeral. He doesn’t put Lebron in the same class as himself and Kobe, because they were straight up killers on the court. Lebron’s style is more like Magic Johnson’s as they make their teammates better, but do not overtake and dominate games. Magic is my second favorite player of all time, so I understand the importance of guys like himself and Lebron. They both have all around skills but are not dominant in any category.

Lebron didn't even start superteams. Even in the modern era Paul pierce was the one that let kg & ray join him
@moisesfigueroa63904 ай бұрын
@loudy12 the issue I have with what you're saying is that Paul pierce didn't leave.. he let better players come play with him.. he didn't Chase or go to someone else's team.. plus Paul pierce wasn't a back to back mvp player neither with the best record in the league. Lebron left under those circumstances 😳. N joined a team where there was an alpha n a finals mvp champion.

McCants saying KG didn’t wanna go to Phoenix but KG literally said in an interview on All the Smoke that Phoenix was an option for him to go to. He had a phone call with Steve Nash and Steve said they would probably trade Amare/Marion for him because they couldn’t afford all of em. It’s not that KG didn’t wanna go there cuz of his competitive nature. He didn’t wanna go there because he didn’t think it was enough to be a contender for a chip lmao

When the GM does it it's ok, when a player does it is a problem, yep...
@sjchacАй бұрын
Yes. GMs have to deal with a salary cap and payroll and asset management and the competition from other GMs GMs don't team up with other GMs to make the competition easier. Players can kill the competition by teaming up, forcing a trade and accepting less money.

Gilbert Arenas talks loud, just to intimidate the other guests! But when you know the truth....nothing he says or does really matters!!! And its ironic, that Gil stands on Lebron until ...when they throw championships in his face....(he knows Lebron don't have more rings than MJ or Kobe),! So, the moment they say this...he says Bill Russell's name!!! But Gil, (nor anyone else), has ever included Russell, (who won 11 out of 13 NBA championships with the Boston Celtics) into the GOAT conversation ,when they're comparing Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant & Lebron James)!! Only when they're talking about these 3 players, and he's losing the argument!!!
