Quick notes for newer players on this: you need to be level 80 to be able to get a map from your Wondrous Tails. There also *is* a quest you'll need to pick up in Wineport to be able to use the maps you get!

A tip. When doing the Bunny “fate” in Eureka, you can click the carrot icon by the quest name on the top right corner of your screen instead of using the key item. It’s faster this way.

I don't know what it's like on US datacenters, but here in Japanese datacenters, hands down the fastest way to make GIL is cross-server arbitrage. This is especially true if your datacentre has a single massively popular server for some reason, as things will be both massively cheaper there and massively more expensive. For a basic instance, I can buy a bunch of Exarchic gear for 30k-40k from the massively populated server, and shove it up for double that on my server. I do this before logging off for the day, it takes me only a few minutes of time, and if you have the right base capital you can make 1.5m overnight for less than 10 minutes work. (there is a little luck in terms of hoping you don't get undercut while you're asleep, but I find about 70% of my stuff sells overnight, the rest is undercut and when I wake up I just adjust the prices of what has been undercut and they'll sell pretty quick) There are a tonne of other items that work this way, Exarchic armour is just the easiest to work with right now and most popular. If you're willing to have an item sit for a while, you can make in some cases millions of GIL between the prices of a single item between servers. I purchased something from one server for 3.2m and sold it on my home server for 7m.

For trial material farming, trade your totems for shields to desynth since they only cost 3. Also do not worry if your desynth is only level 1, you will still get the materials :)

Bozja is also extremely good. On my server, certain fragments you can farm with clusters go for upwards of 8-12k each, and if you're efficient you can farm 150-200 clusters in maybe 90 minutes. That can reach a theoretical 1.5mil+/hr

The MGP grind doesn’t have to be that bad! I was in your shoes too: do fashion report (60k mgp) and challenge log to get ~100k MGP for about 1 hr of work per week. Do that for two weeks and you got your car ;)

I made decent gil doing eureka. I even got a minion that sold for 1 mil. If making money with eureka don't underprice your logograms too much. When BA is busy some logograms will spike in price (eg from 20k to 39k).

Byakko is the best for farming mats with a party. With ilvl 520 you just burst him down in about 50secs a run.

Couple of ones that also can work well for money making, note these are long term not short term huge gains but supplements to other money making tips: Challenge log: do as many as you can. That gil adds up, plus the other rewards can help you as well. Beast tribe quests: bonus xp for your lowbie classes, gil, tokens than can be exchanged for crafting mats, and for some materia that can still be helpful depending on where your at in the game. Roulettes: xp, gil, and tomes. Plus chances at gear you can either desynth or turn into your grand company for seals. Squads: once you get them up and running, it's just checking in every so often for seals, and all kinds of other potential goodies like scrips and materia. Also send out your retainers as well. Even if you don't have or want a gathering retainer, combat ones can bring back some okay shit. Worst case: you vend it and woop,but between desynth and gc turn ins you might be surprised at what you can nab gil wise.

You’ll want to desynth the item, which is an offshoot of crafting. The weapons you see on the market board are crafted by players using items the bosses drop or that come from essentially “disenchanting” the weapon like you would in WoW (desynth)

Glamour items can be expensive, endgame crafted gear, crafting and gathering has a notoriously high price of entry if you aren’t grinding everything from scratch which can take a while due to the materia requirements. All of it can be offset with effort and doing it yourself, it’s mostly for those who don’t enjoy that content, you just buy what you don’t want to grind for

even for engame gear, you get away absolutely fine on savage first week with normal raid gear that we have a while to farm before savage

You are correct in there not being much need to farm gil. Mostly people farm gil for glamours, buying crafted gear (to skip grind) in order to start endgame raiding, housing/decor or at RP venues. General upkeep things such as teleport costs, repair costs, or even end game raid cooldowns are easily bought with gil you make passively just playing the game how you prefer to play. I know some people like hoarding gil. I have a friend that pays for a monthly subscription to an rp venue VIP membership. Probably at least 500k/mo then they also spend way more to win "date auctions". And she tries to never show up in the same outfit twice. Much gil spent on glamour. I have friends that like the stupid golden 50-mil gil mounts for laughs. Most of my fc will just buy the glam items they want as soon as it releases. Even if its on the mb for 2mil gil in the first week. They will fork up the gil for those leather pants. A few fc members are trying to collect all mounts available and that means forking up the money to buy mounts on the mb. I've heard some people I know talk about spending a couple hundred mil gil to buy carries through savage/ultimate clears/training. So anyways. How much gil you want to farm is completely dependant on what you like/want to do in this game and how much you want to avoid grinding. Pve content does not require gil except a little here and there but not enough that you need to grind gil.

@@astropetsarena You'd be surprised how much people regularly spend on glamour. Its insane. The rp venue thing is huuuuuge as well. Especially the NSFW ones. The community is gigantic. My friend isn't even considered a big spender there. Just basic vip membership. People are only half joking when they say glamor is the real endgame. I personally play the game for raiding. I spent less than 1mil on all my gear for raiding in shb. 3mil total if you add crafting/gathering gear that I barely use. I farm mats and the resident static crafter makes my consumables. Since I dont really craft, I just sell all drops on mb or vendor if its not worth listing. But I am competing with an fc member to see how much gil we have by time ew hits. So I've been light farming/destroying a niche market over it but /shrug. Its just for fun anyways.

Most of these are serious luck and very rare/vary on servers and don’t work the way you’re saying they do. Eureka guide would be cool, but make sure to say what is and isn’t pure luck vs. reliable gil. Maybe include some drop rates and test out the information to find average gil per hour instead of what could be gained if you happen to luck out since this came off as a bit lazy by just providing basic information several other people on KZbin have already given.

Chat if you really want to make money the number one tip you need to know before you sell anything on the MB is to NOT FLOOD THE MARKET. The fastest way to lose you investment, is to get into a undercutting war with some dork with too much time on their hands. If someone undercuts you by a lot buy them out and flip the item. Something that usually cost 10k, can drop to 2k if you enter Market Board (Savage) at the wrong time and suddenly you're not breaking even, or losing a ton.
